Combining Use Years

How important is it, when buying points from different villas, to have the same use year? I realize that I can't combine points greater than 7-months out anyway, but is there anything else to consider when adding points from different locations?

We currently have three contracts, two with one UY, the other with a different UY. Our third contract is small, so it's really not big enough to make a good reservation every year. So we use our once a year transfer to transfer those points into our other UY. The third contract is the same resort as the first contract (the second is a different resort - have you got all that ?? Phew!!) So we can then combine the points for all three at 7 months or combine the two at 11 months.

If we didn't transfer every year, we would only be able to book as many nights as we could with that small contract and link the reservation to any we made with the larger contract. You can't combine points for a single night between two different UY(Master contracts).

Keeping track of multiple UY's can be a real pain. MS sometimes also has trouble keeping things straight. Some members have actually sold their contracts to buy a different UY so that they all match.

Better to buy all one UY and make it easy on yourself.

I had the same use year on 2 contracts and even found that to be a headache. To me it is much better to have the same use year unless you have enough points in each to book separate vacations. I recently combined all my contract into one but it cost a lot because they were worded wrong and one of the parties had passed away. In all I spent several thousand to have her taken off, her will probated in FL, and the wording changed so this won't ever happen again. Disney combined them after all the paper work was worked out. I won't ever have 2 UY's and any other addon's I buy with have all wording correct on the deeds!
