Columbia Harbour House- no more hush puppies??

How are the lobster rolls at CHH?

My daughter loves them and we are going back next trip. She said the pic s different and the roll and lettuce look different and she is a bit worried about that but she really enjoyed the lobster roll every trip.

Sadly, as much as CHH has declined, it's still one of the better food options at MK! That's not exactly impressive, you know?

I agree as we struggle with food at MK every trip.

This is so disappointing. They were one of my favorite thinks to eat in MK. Also strange, why would they remove a super popular snack? Like everything else Disney does nowadays it probably had something to do with saving money.

I think that's been gone for years...I want to say pre-pandemic??
Yes I had it once pre-pandemic and visited in 2022 to find it no longer available. I will be visiting OKW and WL as the only places I can now see tuna sandwiches. Please don't change before my next trip 🤞

So true. This and Pecos BIll were our goto QS restaurants. It's amazing the QS options that you have at AK, EPCOT, and HS (with Galaxies Edge opening) and poor options at MK. You would think the busiest park could get some good QS options.

It's not just Disney, but yes it's a cost-cutting measure.
Disneys not the only company doing this but they are the most egregious. Disneys “inflation” has FAR outpaced general inflation. The parks are making more money than ever before and delivering far less. They are getting so bad with it that there have been numerous articles in main stream publications about it. No other company is this bad.

Hey, but the Fried Shrimp Platter is back! Lots of folks were upset when that came off the menu and you could only get as a kid's meal.

Menus are always changing, I remember when we got two sides at CHH with our meals. Fried fish, french fries AND coleslaw. Can't even get slaw as a side. Last thing I'm ordering is mass produced green beans or RICE and pay $5.

Every year they look at menus and make changes based on what they've sold in the past, what their targeted profit margin is AND very much impacted by the Disney Dining Plan. Also seems like they have tried to streamline the kitchen by offering less items. All of this has happened for years and it will be ongoing.

We stopped eating at Peco's Bills when it turned in to Taco Bell. We stopped eating at most the TS in MK because the prices were way too high for the mediocre food they offer.

PLUS about dining at Disney is that it is all OPTIONAL. Last couple trips I was determined DS and I would eat for $25 a meal total, and we did. Disney is not a foodie destination, it's mediocre at most places with high price tags. Like most corporate America giant profits are driving their product and prices.

I threw mine out half way and I rarely throw anything away. They are not what you would get at most seafood restaurants. LOTS of mayo.

They just got rid of them (a personal attack on food blog Cassie)

They also got rid of the waffles at sleepy hollow (well reimagined them but definitely not the same)

i get they are cutting costs, but its crazy they are getting rid of Fan Favorites like this.
I just saw a post on facebook that they got rid of the Nutella Waffle at Sleepy Hollow. Thats a big fan favorite and popular among disney influencers too. Its now only mickey waffles. They have a Mickey Waffle with a Nutella drizzle and bananas.
CHH and Sleepy hollow were the only QS meals we were looking forward too. My daughter loves Strawberries and Nutella, and my son loves hushpuppies. we were so excited to try it when we go in July. So disappointed

This doesn't address hush puppies, they were likely cut due to labor involved to make them with not much cash value in offering them. ...

But one fan favorite that was cut was the Gaston's Pork Shank. Very popular. Everyone was upset and confused as to why something so popular was dropped. As explained to me by a MK CM coordinator ... answer is Disney Dining Plan. Each restaurant has a profit margin they have to meet. They also have to negotiate with the DDP as to how much they will get reimbursed for each item. Pork Shank was so popular yet DDP did not want to reimburse them enough money for them to hit their profit margin targets. With so few products on the menu there that was a huge hit so they had to shift to something more profitable.

Ugh! I would prefer to do without then! Its definitely not a money saver for people who purchase it. I find we spend more money on the plan itself than if we just pay out of pocket. I guess they are preparing for the "Free Dining Plan" that starts in July (which we have... so i'm not helping haha) But! I would rather just not have it and pay out of pocket.

They also changed the sweet and spicy waffle..they're shooting themselves in the foot. Because at this rate I'd rather bring in lunchables and uncrustables than eat many other places. I had both the Nutella fruit waffle and sweet/spicy waffle in the last two weeks.

I haven't checked lately but how hard is it to get ADRs now that the DDP is back. Was sure nice the last few years having no issues getting ADRs even at popular places. I'm sure that is another reason Disney has DDP aside from profits. Keeps folks booking ADRs.

Not hard at all!! We go the second to last week in July and I can still pretty much get anything I want. The only ADR I'm having trouble with is Beaches & Cream. I have a reservation for it, but would like an earlier time. Last I checked, there were a few Space 220 & a ton of CRT openings that week. Because we are staying in POP we got the QS free dining, but I'm just paying out of pocket for the few TS we have. It was cheaper to do that than upgrade to the TS package.
