Our DD received an invitation to participate in this program. She is a junior with plenty of leadership experience (high school class president, twice, vice-president, once, running for president again next year.) She also has high grades and test scores, plenty of volunteer hours, varsity sport letters, etc. She plans to study business, but she hasn't decided which discipline yet. Will participating in this program be beneficial to her? Does anyone know someone who has participated? Will it be helpful to her college admissions process? She is interested in the conference offered at Yale this summer.

Is it just a money-maker for the conference company? The invitation material leads readers to believe that their selection is a big deal. We're not so sure about that.

Any advice and input is very appreciated!

Thanks for the help. :) I also found that article. We're looking for current feedback on the program. Our oldest went through the college search and admissions process over five years ago, and things have really changed! It's so much complicated, stressful--and competitive now. We're just trying to gather all the current feedback that we can to make an educated decision.

I actually edited my post after you read it with a link to something that I thought was probably more pertinent to your question than the one I had originally posted.

I would say no, it will do absolutely nothing to help in college admissions. Those invitations go out to a lot of kids. If she really wants to do it and you can afford it , it may be fun, but is not something to put on a college application.
