I'm still in high school, but I really want to do the college program in WDW when I'm in college. But I have a few questions that the website didn't answer...

1) I don't know what the technical term is for them, but can you audition to be a dancer in a parade/ show? I didn't know if that was included in the Costume Performer role or if you just can't have that role.

2) If you are in Attractions, do you stay at one ride for the whole program or do you move around?

3) Do you have off days? What can you do on off days? Can you go to the parks for free or do you have to pay?

4) Okay, this one is just kind of random and has nothing to really do with working, but what about nail polish? What colors are and aren't allowed?

Thanks! :goodvibes

Hey there :) I'm not sure on all of the answers you're looking for, but this should help:

1) You can be in the parades as a dancer. You have to go to the character auditions and try out. They happen all over the county and at WDW.

2) I'm not in Attractions, but I think they tend to stay at one ride. I do know of other roles, like Merchandising where you can get moved to a different park.

3) You do have days off. Sometimes it's two, sometimes one. You work about 35-45 hours a week, and possibly around 45 or more during the busy seasons, like holidays. On days off you can do anything you want, including go to the parks. Admission is free for CPs and CMs. You also get crazy discounts, too!

4) Not random at all, I love polish! The Disney look is pretty strict about it. You can wear it, but it has to be soft, subtle/natural looking colors. Nothing too bright, dark, bold, or with glitter. Unless, however, you work in QSFB or FSFB (like me), then you can't wear any :(

Hope this helps!

Just to add to the attractions thing, you are generally stationed in one area but may do more than one of the rides in that area. One girl I know is stationed at Tom Sawyer Island and she rotates between doing the Country Bears show and driving the ships.

Adding in on attractions- it really depends on the location. Some locations train at multiple attractions (Fantasyland and Tomorrowland come to mind). However, other locations only train at one attraction (unless you are able to cross-train). On my last CP, I worked only at GMR

Hey there! I'm also in Highschool, and I also plan on doing the college program in college, and by the looks of your name, I am also a ballerina. :)

1) Yes, it is very possible to be a dancer in the show! I've read a blog from a girl who has done it, and it looks like a lot of fun. You do have to go to the college program auditions, where they pull PFLA (Possible Face Look Alike), Fur characters, and dancers.

2) From what I've heard with attractions is that it absolutely can vary. But it also can stay the same your entire program.

3) I think it's about two days off a week, and free admission to the parks! Plenty of time to play!

4) For nail polish, I think that also depends on the role. Like I think if you're working with food you can't have any. But I could be wrong!

Maybe we'll end up on the program at the same time!

More opinions for you:

1) If you're interested in Entertainment, when you go to the audition you will be judged on your dance skills as well. You can't go into the CP in entertainment as solely a parade dancer, but if your skills meet their level it is possible to be in parades. I knew people who were pulled for both the Halloween and Christmas parades last season. You can be in the parades though even if you aren't a dancer - my roommates in Entertainment hung out with friends during the Electrical Light Parade on floats.

2) It does depend on the attraction area. I work in Tomorrowland at Buzz Lightyear, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, and Carousel of Progress, but my roommate worked at solely Splash Mountain. Generally if it's a larger, complex attraction (anything coaster like, something with a unique costume not seen anywhere else, something tucked away on it's own) you'll be just at that one attraction, but a lot of the smaller attractions (mostly at MK I believe) are grouped together.

3) Depending on your role, you get 2 days off a week - if it's a busy time of the year and if you're in a busy role there will be times you might only have one day off. Most of the time these days are back to back (your 'weekend') although they almost never fall on an actual weekend (my weekend was Thursday/Friday). You can go to the parks, go to Universal, go to the outlets (walking distance from Patterson/Chatham!), really do anything you want.

4) It needs to be pretty neutral and professional. My roommate in entertainment was asked by her manager to remove her nail polish when she had black and gold nails for the Saints, even though she was hanging out with fur characters and it wouldn't actually be seen. Still have to adhere to the Disney look!
