So. I just got a call from a Princeton alumni.

He's gonna come interview me on Saturday.

My dad listened in to the entire conversation because he thought the guy was a pedophile. So now I'm meeting the guy at my house.

I'm slowly becoming a nervous wreck. I hate having people I don't know over to the house.

And now I can hear my mom upstairs convincing my dad that this guy isn't a creeper and that it's perfectly normal for alumni to do interviews.

My dad's paranoid.

So, anyway. Back to the original topic of this thread. Have any of you had a college interview? How did it go?

I don't really want him at my house. I'd rather meet him at the Met (a local coffeeshop) or something.

Is there any way to verify with Princeton that it's legit?

When my brother was interviewing for colleges, I'm pretty sure he had to go to an alumni once, my Dad drove him there and then hung around to make sure he was all good xD

How long is he going to be there?

Anyway, clean your house. Make sure all of your thoughts are in order. Take as much time as you need to answer each question he/she might pose.

It's legit. I got an official e-mail and such.

my dad's just paranoid. I mean, the guy specified that he was an alum and that he wanted to meet someplace very public. It's not like he was asking to meet me behind the train station or something.

Why is he coming to your house, then?

Why is he coming to your house, then?

Because my dad doesn't want me meeting him anywhere else. My dad's exact words: "Either you meet him here, or you don't meet him at all". He's convinced this guy's a perv and is going to try and rape me. Parents.

Sorry your dad is being so paranoid but congrats on getting the interview! I'm sure you'll do just fine.

Way back when I applied to college (read that using an old lady creaky voice ;) ) I was applying to their art department so all I had to do was submit a portfolio. No interviews. Phew!

I'm taking the interview as a good sign. It means they liked my application enough to bother to send somebody to interview me!

I thought about applying to an art school, but I'm too...unscheduled as to when I draw. I really have to be motivated to do anything. Otherwise, I never finish anything because I'm convinced it looks horrible. I'd never survive art school.

You sound a lot like me when it comes to doing my artwork. We're our own worst critics.

I never did go through with college though. I was accepted 7 days after submitting my portfolio which was huge, but I made a stupid mistake of thinking I couldn't live without then boyfriend/now exhusband. Is there a head banging into a wall smilie here?

The questions won't be that difficult. Just know why you want to go to that school, how you plan to apply yourself, and what about you makes you someone they would want at their school. Those are the base questions and even if he doesn't ask you those directly, those will be what they are essentially looking for. You will do fine as long as you relax, breathe, and present yourself in a good way. College interviews are generally just a way to get to know the student and to make sure the student is not someone who won't give a crap about learning. Oh and wear something nice lol.

Good luck!! :thumbsup2
