College entrance cheating scandal

We'll see how long she lasts inside. I'll be shocked if she makes it the full two weeks. Lori is probably scared right now. Bribery doesn't always win and as bad as this sounds, the rich need to learn this.

All this could have potentially been avoided if their children had gone to gasp, community college or applied to other less competitive California State Universities.

It's not that bad. I've seen pictures, and it kind of looks like hospital rooms. She'll be there with other inmates deemed a low security risk. My understanding is that the big thing about it would be the boredom.

She'll be fine.
Martha Stewart did longer and came out fine and with enough street cred to start hanging with Snoop.
My bet is there is a reality show in the works.

I would assume with the plea came a nicer than norm cell zip code. This might be an issue for those that did not plea.

Not really. There aren't too women's federal prisons available. This one was actually the closest to Southern California. Here's a map, although I think they have the security level of FCI Dublin wrong.

I meant the plea came with a lower security level of prison was just relating that to a nicer zipcode. I would assume in pleas they will push for a certain facility they feel is less strict.

There was no way they were going to send a nonviolent federal convict to anything other than low or minimum security.

At least she actually served time. We often see famous people in the news who get off with just community service. Here they held her accountable. 11 days is nothing to laugh at. Must better than entering one day and being released the next.

I agree, and I'm thinking long term she made the much wiser decision -technically she's "done" now and get start to move on and put this all behind her. The ones pleading not quilty are dragging things out

Well - she's still on the hook for the fine and community service. I've heard of convicts sentenced to community service who were hauled back to court and then back to the lockup for failing to fulfill the service requirements.

Huffman already volunteers time, so it's not going to be anything she hasn't already done.

While some may balk at the amount of time spent in jail... she is now a convicted felon, she has to be humiliated beyond belief , strip searching and finger printed, etc
Nothing to sneeze at in my mind.

I’m interested in how the Loughlin/Mossimo family does... not looking good for them, though imho the rowing daughters walked...

Legally she's not a convicted felon given her particular conviction. At least the federal government considers felonies to carry punishment of at least 1 year incarceration.

But yeah - having to check in to even a minimum security federal prison is no fun. The inspection is humiliating although I'm thinking it was mostly boring.

SHe owned up to what she did. She was remorseful and is paying the price. Yes, she shouldn’t have taken part in the scheme but it must have humbled her. I was disappointed in Martha Stewart’s comment a couple of days ago when she said Felicity looked schlumpy in her prison garb. SHe, of all people should know that you can’t take your stylist to prison with you. You wear what you are required and follow the orders.

The latest on Lori Loughlin's defense:

I may not have the legal details exactly correct. TMZ has the full details on their website.

Remember the fake photos of the daughters each rowing, to fake that they are rowers to get them into USC? Turns out, while they took the photos. Sent the photos to the ringleader, Rick Singer. HE never forwarded the photos to USC. They NEVER received a copy of the "infamous fake photos."

The Harvard lawyer on TMZ said, "Intention to commit fraud is not the same as actually committing fraud. There's no crime committed in intending." Since the photos never made it to USC, there was no crime committed.

The prosecution is saying Lori & Mossimo knowingly & underhandedly bribed USC officials. Lori & Mossimo say they thought they were only giving a donation (or something like that) to the USC college itself. And that Rick Singer was supposed to be properly arranging all that, as far as they knew. The ONLY check they wrote for the college was written out directly to USC. No person. The same way others write out checks for millions of dollars to a college to donate for a wing - which also gets their kids, who may not have the grades or whatever, to get in otherwise. That's legal.

According to Harvey Levin, their defense is appearing more and more to show that they really didn't think they were doing anything more than what other wealthy people who donate to colleges do. That they were one of the about 1300 other of Rick Singer's wealthy clients, who, out in the open, did the same thing. He wasn't operating as some back alley, shady deal. (He even tried to get a TV series made of what he did.) And if anything underhanded happened, HE was the one who did it. Without their knowledge . . and after he took their money.
