My S is accepted for Spr 2014

His Dean told him earlier that he needed 2.75 to attend the program. My S may fall just below that cuz of a particular class.

We've already paid the $300. Can the college prevent him from attending?

BTW: If you're going to post "He needs to put his grades up!" Please don't.
He's curriculum/major/program is tough and not everyone can have a 4.0

A college has minimum standards/requirements that must be met. If you son doesn't meet those, than I'm guessing he cannot enroll. It isn't the college that 'prevents' him from enrolling because you know the rules before going in.

When you gave them the $300, did you see if that was refundable? I applied to more than one college and paid an application fee for each. I knew up front it was non-refundable. I only chose one to actually attend :)

Ok thanks for the obivous non-answer. :rolleyes2

PrincessJo, I think the OP is saying the $300 was paid to Disney for the Spring CP.

I would think the college can deny him any credit if they were originally saying there would be some internship credit. I don't think they can stop your son from doing the DCP but you may need to talk to them about taking some sort of leave of absence for the semester if there's otherwise no credit being earned for the semester.

Your son might want to contact Disney recruitment with the question. My daughter is doing Spring Advantage and had questions that they were very good about answering. He will also want to check if Disney has a minimum GPA. When my older daughter did her 2 PI's, some of the programs had a 3.0 minimum. Not sure about the CP.:flower3:

Hightown is right. The college can only stop you from earning credits for it, and they cannot prevent you from doing the DCP. Some people completely withdraw for a semester for these kinds of reasons.

Def needs to be asked to college recruiting.

Disney puts a list of people on disneyeducationconnection.com in a log in area. That is where they ask schools to verify that people meet both Disney's requirements and any requirements the school may have. Person doesn't meet the requirements, then it would be a no-go.

School's use the same area to verify grades and stuff while someone is on the program. But initially, it is used to verify that someone can do the program.

My S met with Dean and he's okay. Checking in soon

But here is some fact (I didn't know until recently)

The college CAN prevent a student from attending the program.
The college will do this by notifying Disney the student are not eligible.
Disney does not have a minimum GPA, it's each college's requirement

Example
Monster's U can have a 0.5 GPA requirement
Medfield College (Flubber, Absent minded Prof) can have a 4.0 GPA requirement

A GPA of 3.9 will be ok at Monster's U but not @ Medfield

Good information, BadDad. Thanks for posting that.

Glad it worked out for your son. Best of luck to him.

From my understanding from my college. If u are taking a semester off for it and not getting credit they cannot (or usually won't) prevent it
