1st time cruiser for 6/1. Can't afford excursions w/ family of 6.
Coki beach sounds good, can you go w/o doing Coral World or is that the main reason to go there? Also, could anyone tell me how much to expect to pay for transportation there and how much to rent snorkeling equipment and what are the ages?

Also, if anyone has suggestions for other self guided excursions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks:Pinkbounc

We did Coki on our own. You can get a taxi (really various vehicles w/row of seats) from the dock to coki for about $7 per person....each way, realize. Coki is on the other side of the island, and we wanted to see what town was like.....we should have gone straight to the beach. We didn't get there until noon and there were few chairs left ($5 each). Tell the taxi driver when you want picked up and they will come back for you. If you're not sure when you want to come back, there are plenty of taxi's always around anyhow. We ticked off our taxi driver because we were standing around waiting for him while there were other taxi's ready to go.....so we got on another and started to pull out when he pulled up:rolleyes: . Be prepared for a fast(very very) ride to and from and hold on tight! And make sure you go to the potty before you get to the beach....the public potty is pretty yucky.

okay.....enough of the warnings.......this is a beautiful beach. The sand is nice and clean.....the water warm, and the view from the beach is unbelievably gorgeous! Don't forget your camera! This is the stuff you see in travel magazines! The water is wonderful. Fish come up and eat dog biscuits out of your hand. They will serve you drinks on the beach if you want. The beach "hawks" (those who sell stuff) are not pushy. You will enjoy this.
Oh, and when you leave, look around.....the beach is beside a white washed cemetery....just curious..........

Absolutely enjoy your cruise....I'm jealous!

We just got back from the 5/18 Eastern...we went to Coki...see our trip report on the trip report page...it is "5/18 Eastern Part 2 or 3" (can't remember). We loved it. We were off the ship and at Coki before 9am. Our cab was about 12min @ $7 per person each way. Our driver was great...safe..but I have read reports of the cab rides being wild. It is gorgeous. We did not do Coral World. No waves, smooth, crystal clear blue water. Best snorkeling was to the Right near the rocks, swimming toward Coral world. We rented 2 chairs and an umbrella for $20 and ate pizza for lunch...3 restaurants on the beach...if you take your own collapsable cooler, you could take fruit, croissants, or order PBJ and cookies from roomservice to take with you. We left around 2:30...lots of cabs hang out there to take cruisers back to the ships...if not, one of the locals who rents the chairs will get a cab for you. Very easy to do on your own. We'd do it again in a minute. We took our own snorkel stuff...cheaper to do if you plan on snorkeling at Coki and Castaway Cay...Costco and Sports Authority has good deals. They did rent it there...but I don't know how much.
