Hello everyone!
I just wanted to let everyone know that the coin jar really works! I just rolled up a whole jar of coins and came up with about 300 dollars! (it was one of thoes big pop bottle type jars). I just wanted to give everyone some movitation on keeping up with depositing coins in Piggy Banks! It really pays off! I'm hoping to use this money for food on my trip!

I am saving change. I will be cashing it in so often. Since DS likes to dig in my change.

I have another mini change bank in my desk at work.

Wow, that's great! How long did it take you to save that much??

We've been doing coins jugs for 3 years, we call them our Disney jug. Our first two payouts have been $950 & $650. This year I hope to have $700 for our August trip.
It so easy to accumulate and it feels like new found spending money for the trip. :cool1:

That is FABULOUS nkkilala!

I've got my jar, all decorated, sitting by the front door. Very easy to remember to deposit money when we're coming or going! :moped:

We cash ours in & then the kids get to divide the amount evenly between themselves (3) and that is their souvenier money.

:cool1: Great job Nikki! I just rolled $40 afeter only a few weeks. I have been using a RFC mug from 1998. This board makes saving a lot easier than I thought. Maybe when I save for a year I'll get $300. Keep all the ideas coming folks. :flower:

Every couple months, I roll my change and deposit it into my ING account.

Such an easy way to save money and not miss it!

Thanks for the reminder.

My change is adding up too.....probably slowly, but I'd say there's probably $50-60 in there, so that's our dinner at LeCellier!

Steph

We have been saving since December 1. Just change at first, but now, I've been throwing in my savings from using my shopper's card from the grocery. So far, we have around $175.00.

We purposely don't use change, when paying for anything, even if we have the correct amount. Any change we recieve goes to the Disney bank.

Adds up fast!!!!

I have not even count my changes jar until i pay the deposit on my trip. I don't know how much I got in there. I save money from my tip money from pouring beer at the baseball stadium where I am concession stand manager. Plus I private parties in the suites where pour beer to make extra money in the summer time. They big tippers in the suites.

It's just such an easy way to save up! Now that we have $1 and $2 coins it adds up even quicker! The container I'm using (for mainly 1's and 2's) should be good for over $500 if I can get it filled. We going in less than a month, but I'm already thinking of this as $$ for our next trip! :bounce:

Way to go! We get about $40 a month in change, it's a painless way to save some money and if you take it to the bank and deposit it in your savings account every month it even earns some money for you!

I cashed mine in today 27.08 from Dec. to Feb. I am sure there was more but DS digs in it. So I moved the change jar to my desk at work.

I took the 27.00 and bought Disney Dollars.

Around here (PA), my bank (Commerce) has a free (for anybody) coin counting machine. Last spring I cashed in about $400 (I think) for my April trip. It had been a few years since the last time it was dumped.

My bank will sort my coins for free too. I think most banks will for customers. Anyway, I ended up buying a little sorting tray wil sleeves to roll them because the kids and I had SO MUCH FUN doing that. Now everyone wants to add found coins to the bucket so they can help roll more coins.

I also cash and throw in all rebate and reimbursement checks. When we went to WDW last month, I used bucket savings for everything, and even brought home left over money to start filling my bucket again.

Thanks to whoever suggested this as a fun and easy way to save splurge money! :cheer2:

That is so great. :goodvibes We rolled ours last week and we have $956 :cool1: :cool1:

I am keeping a list of what I get everytime I cash in. Since I have to cash in every few months to keep DS out of them. But it does not matter cause in the end they all become Disney Dollars anyways.

I think I have a little over 100.00 in Disney Dollars for our trip. My goal is to have 300 at least. I will spend those first and then spend the cash I am bringing. I am hoping we do not spend the whole 600. Because I am already looking at a 2007 cruise.

I, too, am a coin saver! I work at a bank and decided to use my change to open a 12 month add on CD...that way every month or so I can bring my change in and add it to the CD....the great part is, is that it's only for a year and I cannot take any money out of it until the maturity date (If you take money out before the maurity date you'll get fined. So that stops me from taking out), and it earns a little bit of interest. I also like to add expense checks and rebates to the CD. And recently started just adding $25 out of my paychecks (which are every 2 weeks) so hopefully I'll have plenty of spending money for souvaniers and food snacks! I definetly encourage all of you to KEEP SAVING COINS!
