If the rates are available for your dates, you can get a small discount with a AAA Card, a better discount with the FAN Club Card, or the best discount with the Entertainment Card. Not all discounts are available for all dates. If your dates are flexible, ask what date are available for the Entertainment Card rates. Then you can purchase an Entertainment Book (you must present the card upon check in) for approx $30. If you can only get FAN Club rates, email tinkerbarb with you name and address (She is very nice and has posted she will send cards to those who don't have any) and she will send one to you. The number for Universal Reservations is (800)232-7827, press option #2 to get to reservations.
I managed to get 3 different rates for a one week stay for spring break. 4 nights at entertainment rate, 2 nights at fan club rate, and one night at rack. That's at the PBH. No deals on the HRH for the same week yet. RPH had entertainment rates available for the whole week - too bad it's not my first choice of where to stay!
As you can see, the discounts are all over the place - there seems to be no logical sequence at how they are released! So I suppose they are like Disney in a way - the discounts are there, but it takes patience and a little luck to get what you want!!
