Hello.....I've been away from the boards lately and like many people have been checking for codes for my stay April 20-30th.......I have never paid rack rates for moderates the last 5 years........we usually stay at the Coranado during regular season............If some one could update me or give advice ....i.e ..should I book now or wait...I would greatly appreciate it...................Thanks............Slinkydog :cool1:

That's a tough call. CSR is very popular with the business crowds and gets a lot of convention-types. Of all the moderates, it is the one least likely to have a room available with a discount code. It's not that they don't discount any rooms, it's just that they seem to have fewer of them than the other moderates. If you have your heart set on CSR, then book it now to ensure that you have a room there but accept the fact that that room will cost you $149+ per night.

As far as the codes are concerned...well, everyone seems to be in a panic over them. There are no guarantees that there will be any codes at all, much less one that can be applied at your resort of choice. Last year, codes for April 18-July 4, 2004 were announced 3/9/04. If the same holds true for this year, we all have another month to wait it out.

I think it would be wonderful if Disney would continue offering discount codes, however, it really worries me when I see people counting on this and expecting the sames rates from years past to again be offered in times of booming tourism.

After 9/11, discounts were floating around like crazy trying to boost travel. Now that people are traveling more - and with the addition of the MYW packages - who knows if Disney will offer general public codes.

If rooms are filling up, Disney has no incentive to offer discount codes. They may offer random postcard or e-mail codes, but again - these are not guaranteed.

Just my 2 cents. :sunny:

That's why we booked a resort that we could afford with the AAA discount. Had we booked a deluxe, hoping for a bigger discount, I'd be freaking out right now.

I posted this on another post but here goes....I spoke with a CM this morning and she told me that it was highly unlikely to get any codes for then because all resorts have a lot booked for April on..... We are going April 17-23 and booked WL with AAA and were really hoping for a code because we really can't afford to pay $265 per night (inc. tax). The CM in January talked me into saying that I could apply a code when they were released. I honestly figured they would have codes but now I'm starting to wonder???? I am still holding out hope that they will release general public codes. Please, please, please....... :wizard:

Welcome to the DIS, SlinkyDog55!

I agree with aka-madforthemouse. If you have your heart set on Coronado, then go ahead and book now, and be prepared to pay rack rate. If you can't afford rack rate, then you may want to consider booking a value resort just to secure a room.

I guess we'll all just have to hope that the codes and AP rates come out :)

I agree that one should not count on the Same disount as the previous year, however, I do not feel disney will get rid of discounts all together. They are very shrude business people who run thisand they won't let a room sit idle. They would rather have all rooms full with some at a discount. What you might see is more block out dates or less availability during those busy times. Im sure something will be released but I think everyone needs to make a list of resorts they most like and when codes come out go off that. I know we all have our favs but that is the magical part. To us just being able to go and stay on property is worth all the wishes we cast. :wizard:
