Code Panic Part II

Hello....as some will recall....I posted a thread yesterday about my concern about codes not coming out for my upcoming trip April 20-30th......I would like to thank all who replied. I have been on these boards for years but had to create a new name and registar again ( for some reason it would not take my loggin. ) ......I say this for reasons that will become clearer........
Anyhow after reading many posts about rude Cm's, mailed codes on postcards that were not received, some people getting discounts and others not getting them I decided to just call for the heck of it. ( Like many of you I work very hard to find the best deal... i.e. research ).......no I do not expect a discount and yes I would go if I had to pay rack rate.....I just would'nt be able to go as long.......We have went to disney for 14 years since our honeymoon ....Thanks to the wonderful people on these boards I have been able to occasionally save some money and I am grateful.....we love Disney....and my family looks forward to our vacation every year.....most coworkers think I'm nuts.....................now.... please don't get mad.....I called and got a CM that was not paticularly friendly.....in fact I expected the worst.....she checked my file from previous years and made a reference to the 14 previous visits and I asked for a Quote for room only and package................I also asked if there were any discounts or specials......she said they sent me a postcard with a code on it.......I never received it but I did change my e- mail............she said I could get Coronado Springs for ....79$ a nite.....my jaw dropped and I said book it thinking it might slip thru my hands like water........I do not know why I was so lucky.......believe me I have spent countless hours on the phones like many of you and have paid my Disney dues....last year I jumped thru so many hoops with Disney Visa ....but it worked out........Good LucK to all of you....keep trying........see you at the Happiest place on earth........Slinkydog

Slinkydog I don't even know you well enough to have a love/hate relationship w/you but I do. Jealous that's what I am. No other way to say it. Good for you and I really mean that it is nice to know that a faithful follower has had some success.

Hi! I have been reading the forums for that last little while and finally gave in and joined. My curiosity got the better of me. I keep reading about codes that give discounts. Can someone give me a little guidance and explain? We booked a package deal meal and all. How does one get codes? Do you just call up reservations and see if they have one for your stay? or do you have to be a member of a specific group? Thanks.

Bluenoser, the codes mentioned are discount codes to encourage folks to stay on-property. They usually get posted on these boards, and are also listed on Mousesavers.com, a site devoted to Disney discounts. The codes usually come out just a month or two before the dates they apply to, and discounted rooms are limited. It's sorta like getting an airline discount -- it takes a lot of spying and some work!

Sometimes Disney will send past guests a postcard that is ONLY for them. I have never gotten one, yet my Dad got one recently and we all travel together. You can always call and ask "What discounts are available?" A nice CM will often hlep you out if possible. Codes can be public -- for anyone to use -- or specific to a certain group like "annual passholders," "Canadians," or "Disney Visa holders."

Generally, codes are NOT applicable to packages thru Disney. Codes are discounts for room-only.

Hello,Bluenoser.....from time to time when companies sell things or advertise to sell things i.e.....vacation packages ....cars ....anything really......they might say at they bottom of the page is a code to use when you call to take advantage of this special. Disney advertises...for vacation packages all over the world in Magazines ....Newspapers....etc........ sometimes they send out Postcards...anyway the codes are on the publications and you need to mention them when you book your vacation sometimes for considerable discounts of regular rates.........www.mousesavers.com tells you codes that are for the general public...and sometimes they are specific for Canadians.
With disneys magic your way package or whatever it's called......I think that is a good deal and codes are sometimes room only.......I would keep what you got......Rock on....Slinkydog
