Coco Key resort

Anyone stay there???? I can get a great deal on this hotel and my friend and I are looking for a fun place to take our kids for a week. I've read the reviews in Tripadvisor which are all pretty good with very few exceptions. We don't care for luxury but we do want a nice place that is clean and safe.

One more question....what is it near on I-drive?

It's a little south of the sling shot and across from ChuckeE Cheese and CiCi.

How much is the transport to WDW from here?

And is the Waterpark entrance included in your hotel package?

been to coco key in Massachusetts and liked it. Its a Marriot up here and was very nice. Rooms very clean and quiet. Waterpark is great kids loved it...going again for birthday...can be a little loud and busy but its a waterpark ...right? I would do itfor a weekend but longer than that I would like a little slower pace...that my 2 cents

We ate there this week thanks to the gift of a restaurant.com cert from a gracious DISer. I'd never heard of it before that. It's just north of Sand Lake Rd on I drive.

Our impression was that the water park is probably fun, but the hotel is likely similar to most mid to low end properties. We didn't see inside the rooms, but there was nothing to suggest they are anything more than just a basic hotel room. We prefer to at least get something like a Residence Inn or Homewood Suites at a minimum so we can spread out a bit.

We ate in the snack bar, which had decent pizza and a pretty good burger. The prices were typical for a resort type property.

I spent 5 days there in April. The rooms are good size (probably slightly larger than the Mod's at Disney); the beds were comfy and everyone seemed very well=behaved. We had a 1st floor room near the quiet pool and when I looked out the window one night about 1:00 a.m. I saw a security officer walking around.

The waterpark was included in the price of the room; however, you do have to pay a "resort fee" of $19 (I think). It included transport to Universal and Seaworld (maybe), but the pick-up and drop-off times were terrible in my opinion. According to the schedule it was taking 1 hour to get to Universal, when if in reality if you drove (which we did) it was less than 10 minutes.

There is a Dunkin Donuts right next door, Cici Pizza and Chucky Cheese across the street. We walked I-Drive one night and played mini-golf at Congo River, then grabbed ice cream. The kids and I really enjoyed it.

My only complaints about Coco Key were the resort fee and the air conditioning was very loud

Stayed for a two night stay last month in a family room (two rooms that are connected). Rooms weren't anything to be too excited for, not dirty but not clean if you know what I mean. Rooms are connected thru the bathroom which I wasn't a big fan of. The buffett was overly expensive, even with a Restaurant.com gift certificate, two kids eating free our breakfast buffet was almost $40 for four adults!!!! And it was nothing more than what would be a continental breakfast at a regular hotel!

Now for our biggest complaint, weak stomachs may not want to read.... people pooping in all the pools!!!! It was disgusting!!!! And I know accidents happen, but we had a pool view room of the hotel room, not the one in the water park, and some kid literally went over to the edge of the pool and pulled down his pants and pooped in the pool while other kids watched laughing. And the pool in the water park was constantly closed for the lifeguards to fish out... well you know what they were fishing out. But my biggest problem with it was that they would fish out the you know, and then people would get right back in the pool!!!! They didn't close it and add chemicals or anything!!!!! I mean, how can you just jump back in a pool after watching that float around!!! We called the manager asking about the policy when it first happened and she stated that their policy was to close the pool for 30 min to 2 hours while chemicals were administered, well I can tell you that that never happened! There was no adding chemicals, just fishing out poop and everyone back in. When we called the manager a second time to ask why the policy wasn't being followed, she comped us a free breakfast and arcade credits.

Yeah, we won't be back and our kids were not allowed to swim.

We stayed last summer at Coco Key and really enjoyed it!! The rooms are very large and comfy. They hadn't gotten fridges yet in the room, but I was told it was on their list to get them soon. The air conditioners were alittle noisey at times, but the air was nice and cool. The water park is wonderful!!! and the fact that they have lifeguards everwhere really is a plus.

Good reading.

See its' quite hard to book this from UK by the looks of things, First Choice seems to have dropped Florida, althoguh Thomson still go there, but don't see Coco West.

I have noticed that some have paid a resort fee also, but not sure if that would apply if you book a Package Holiday from the UK to here.

We went to the Coco Key waterpark for the day in Cherry Hill, NJ. My 4 year old nephew was bored after about an hour as there really wasn't much to do. The slides were mainly for little ones, the lazy river took 2 minutes to lap, maybe 5, then a light broke in it and they didn't fix it. That was half the waterpark, so we left. It was really overpriced for adults and even for the nephew, especially with the lazy river knocked out of the equation, plus it was way way way overcrowded.
