Hi Ladies

Jack and I were discussiong how we could fill the hour or so we're going to have spare between the end of the reception and the start of the dessert party.

We'll have music, and people can dance if they want to, but as it's only an hour and we have a small wedding party we think a DJ will be a bit odd.

We both like the idea of someone who can make cocktails (and do all the fancy Tom Cruise stuff) and then everybody can have one made for them.

Would add a bit of fun whilst we mingle and chat with people.

Anyone know if DFTW offer this? (Our reception is at the Whitehall)

Thought I'd ask you before I bug my co-ordinator! ;)

I have never heard of it but its a good idea. Let us know what you find out

I don't know if you'd be interested but you can extend your dp to start earlier. You can have you guests at your dp location and have your cocktails there. Just an idea.

I don't know what you mean by fancy tom cruise stuff but it sounds like fun! I would def ask.

You could also bring in someone to do caricatures or silhouettes or something fun like that, or even like uninvited guests to come and entertain people...

That's a fantastic idea! I like it! :thumbsup2 I know it's not something typically offered and can't think of anywhere on property where bartenders perform "flair", but you definitely should ask your planner b/c they probably could find an outside vendor or may have contacts with people they use for conventions. Good Luck! Hope you can get someone b/c again, I think it's a great idea! :goodvibes

Oh and Cassie-- she's referring to Tom Cruise in the '80's movie, "Cocktail", where he played a bartender who does lots of tricks like flipping and juggling bottles and stuff. It's a fun movie...Tom back in the day! :thumbsup2

That's an awesome idea, I love it! :lovestruc

The only thing that would stop me from doing it is I've found when cocktails are offered free people tend to abuse the privledge. I can remember several Christmas parties where free cocktails have been on the menu, and there being tables and tables of half drunk drinks everywhere, and our company maybe has 20-30 employees :confused3

Yeah, I thought that. I don't mind people drinking if we're paying, but I can't stand waste.

I think perhaps we'd do a 'one/two drink per person' thing and then if people want more they can pay. It will only be for an hour after all, and there will have been drinks throughout dinner. And we're doing glowtinis at the DP, so I don't think it'd be too harsh not having unlimited cocktails.
