I've never eaten there, but I've seen online and elsewhere that they serve fresh tortillas made next door at the Mission Tortilla Factory. Do they still do this? I love it whenever a Mexican restaurant uses freshly-made tortillas, so to find that in a theme park is pretty neat.

Yes, and if you take the self-guided, very short tour of the tortilla factory, you get a free, fresh tortilla on your way out. Yummy!

I live in an area with a heavy concentration of Mexican-Americans and where you can find good Mexican food on every corner. Every time we go to DL, we go through the tortilla factory for the fun of it; but we always get a laugh because those tortillas are as far from the real thing as you can get. Wish I could share some really good ones with all of you.

I agree that while they are not super authentic, they are still yummy :) Fresh, hot goodness!

That's good to know they're still doing it. I had read in a trip report something about a tortilla machine "still not working" so I wasn't sure if the fresh tortillas had been discontinued.

The tortillas they give out after the tour are very small. I can see them being used for the soft tacos and the little enchiladas at Rancho Zocalo but they would need to have an entirely different machine hidden away somewhere to make the larger, burrito-sized tortillas.

They use them at Rancho in DL too. :) We love those tortillas and we have a very authentic Mexican place very close to our house...we love eating there and honestly, the tortillas there are very similar to the ones we get at the Mission tour. :)

FWIW, I haven't seen the flour tortilla machine running in quite awhile...probably since last summer.

Is that flour tortilla machine more for show then? I assume that means the tortillas used in the restaurants are produced somewhere more behind the scenes.
