Has anyone been on a touring holiday by coach in the US? There is one called Western Discoverer Tour for Los Angeles, Los Vegaswith other stops. We are thinking of booking this trip but I would love to hear if anyone has been on this tour.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

My parents have done several in Canada and California and thoroughly enjoyed both. However, they are in their 60s and are not keen to drive in North America. They did spend a fair bit of time on the coach and, while it suited them, I'm not sure the huge distances involved would sit happily with everybody. The LA-Las Vegas route is extremely popular, but much of the drive covers some pretty dull country. I'd rate a short-haul flight from LA to LV a better idea, and you could then take side-trips from LV once you're there (including the Grand Canyon, which we did back in 1987).

Simon Thanks for your reply, at the moment it is just something we were concidering we thought it would be more relaxing than driving.

We went to the West Coast in 2000. We booked through Unijet and spent 6 nights in Los Angeles then flew to Las Vegas for 4 nights and then flew to San Francisco for 4 nights. Tours were available through Unijet for at each destination.
It was a fantastic holiday.

Just wondered if you had seen the "Fly Tours" in Virgin's brochure. You can fly into San Francisco for 4 nights, fly to Las Vegas for 4 nights and then onto Los Angeles for 6 nights. You have two hotel choices - standard or superior.

We were considering the coach tour but decided there would be too much time on the road.

Don't know what sights you are mainly interested in but it seems you can have a day trip to Yosemite from San Francisco (a long day though) and the Grand Canyon can be visited from Vegas.

It's what we are hoping to do next year.

Thank you for your replies, I had not noticed these tours in the Virgin book so it is another option now. :bounce: :smooth: :Pinkbounc
