Al Lutz on MiceAge - rumor starter extraordinaire - says that CM previews are now scheduled. Disney has not announced this yet. This is rumor from a professional rumor starter. :)

Editor's Note 4/7-8: It's not announced yet, but official Cast Member Previews for Star Tours 2.0 are now scheduled for May 16th through the 19th. Soft openings for park visitors could begin immediately after that, while the CM Previews begin for Little Mermaid on the 20th. They've gone with the later timetable that was discussed in the last update, waiting for the park to recover from the Pirates Premiere before they begin previewing this summer's new rides. - Al Lutz

:rotfl: Ya know, at first this guy was getting me excited. I keep having my dh, who is a CM check these dates to make sure we get tickets and no one has a clue yet... I'm over stressing about dates at this point and it happens when it happens.

Hmmm...I am trying not to get my hopes up for the possibility of soft openings when I am there beginning May 24th. But maybe there is a sliver of hope! ;)

Same here just keep our fingers crossed :) , I'm hoping the dates are correct, but like the OP said, it's all rumor still and this Lutz guy is driving me Nutz.

:lmao: I know! I am following every twitter account I can think of so I will know if/when a soft opening happens. I am afraid I will miss it!

Yep, and the WoC dates turned out a little premature.

Do any of you own Little Mermaid DVD? The latest one that was out has "the ride that never was" in there special features and is supposed to be this very ride.

Its cool it has a virtual tour and alot of fun facts about it.

That will not be the ride, although some of the show scenes may be similar. That ride was originally designed for DL park, not DCA. The new Little Mermaid ride will be so much more advanced, with some crazy cool audio-animatronics, a huge "Under the Sea" showroom with some cool audio, and omnimover style cars (think Haunted Mansion style doombuggies but seashells instead, and not those individual clamshell vehicles that the DVD shows). No, this ride opening in a few weeks will be AMAZING! :yay:

I think in comparison we are not going to have the fast plunging effect. But the scenes will be a lot richer that the mock ride through in the video.

As soon as they start letting the cast preview it we should know for sure what it's like.

I stumbled upon a drawing on the AP site to win a chance to preview Star Tours.

All days the times are in blocks, 9am to 1 pm or 4pm to 8pm.
Days are May 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 31 and June 1st.

You can enter upto 6 people in your party, but they must all be AP holders too.

Star Tours will not have soft openings for the public, only AP previews for which one must register and "win" (most AP holders who register will likely get a time slot, assuming they aren't picky about which one).

Why did you have to reiterate what I said, with less detail?

How do you know there will not be soft openings?

Thanks for the info MAH4546! :thumbsup2

I just entered and checked off all time slots. I figured I could make any time slot. What ever it takes, I could get to DL:).

DH and I won a time slot for Tot Story Mania in 2008. The "ticket" guaranteed one ride on TSM. After arriving at the ride, we were told to get back on TSM if there was no line. If there was a line we could not get back on, but we could wait and get back on once the line disappeared. We could do that for as long as the time noted on the ticket. Sounded fair to us. Our time slot was for 10am to 2pm, I think. I know that we left before the time slot ended because we had to get back to Ventura and pick up our girls from school. So we rode TSM for 10 to 11 times in a row. Our elbows were aching! We had a blast.

Now I don't know how it will be like for ST2, but it is fun to preview a new ride.

Why did I just let my AP expire!!! :sad2:

Well, I will be in line with the masses this summer. May the force be with us...

If its a CM soft opening is that only for CMs or can they have guest passes for friends?

I'm hoping they have AP previews when we go back in May....altho if I get the job I interviewed for yesterday I may have to skip it, but DBF and the girls could ride. Matt thanks for the info on the contest, I'm off to sign up with my NEW AP INFO!!!! And hopefully win a slot for the STII preview!! :)
