It depends on how bad the trauma was. Obviously the CM needed a Level 1 trauma center of which ORMC is the only one in the area...so he was sent there. Celebration Hospital is not a Level 1 TC and can't handle the more serious injuries. I work at the downtown campus of ORMC and we see the helicopters flying in all too often.I so hope that this CM makes a full and speedy recovery...It got me thinking though. This is the second airlift from WDW to Orlando in the last week. (Atlanta Braves coach was hit in the head by a batted ball during a game.) I didn't realize that WDW was that far from the hospitals in Orlando. It always seemed so close to me. Maybe that is just because I live out in the boonies and have to drive thirty miles to get to the mall, so everything seems closer in a big city.
The original link now reports that the CM has died this morning. Very sad.
