CM injured at Disney Animal Kingdom's Primeval Whirl - he passed away

I feel bad for the guy, but maybe that means they can replace that piece of crap with something better. :goodvibes

Interesting that the ride was not in operation when the accident occurred in that it was undergoing a minor refurbishment. Sounds like maybe somebody disconnected something they weren't supposed to or didn't have something locked out that should have been! At least it was a good thing that no visitors witnessed the accident close up while on the ride.

Isn't this the second accident involving a cast member at this ride in the last year? I remember hearing like 6 months ago about a cast member getting hurt on the loading platform. As others had said and take it from someone who's in the field, you don't get a helicopter ride unless you really need one. Hope the cm makes a speedy and full recovery.

This is terrible. A cast member died very similarly in 2007. She was working on the ride, fell and hit her head.

There really is nothing that I like about this ride.

I hope this cast member makes a speedy recovery.

I so hope that this CM makes a full and speedy recovery...It got me thinking though. This is the second airlift from WDW to Orlando in the last week. (Atlanta Braves coach was hit in the head by a batted ball during a game.) I didn't realize that WDW was that far from the hospitals in Orlando. It always seemed so close to me. Maybe that is just because I live out in the boonies and have to drive thirty miles to get to the mall, so everything seems closer in a big city.

It depends on how bad the trauma was. Obviously the CM needed a Level 1 trauma center of which ORMC is the only one in the area...so he was sent there. Celebration Hospital is not a Level 1 TC and can't handle the more serious injuries. I work at the downtown campus of ORMC and we see the helicopters flying in all too often.

The original link now reports that the CM has died this morning. Very sad.

Yes very sad! We live under the flight path for the emergency helicopter to the local hospital less than 1/2 mile away. My heart sinks everytime they go over. It's always bad. You always hope and it's always saddening when the worst happens.

Thoughts are with the worker's family and his co-workers. Devastating for all.
