I am very accustomed to using DAS for my adult son, when I bring him into the parks on a Guest Pass. Every day I go to guest services, and get a new DAS. (no advance DAS, no big loss there). I understand why I needed to do this. ONCE, about 5 years ago, an Epcot CM gave me a ticket linked to my son, good for the length of the trip, so I didn't need to go every day for a new DAS. (This was before it was on the app, too). On subsequent trips, I was told that was offered to him in error, that card was meant for kids under 3, with no ticket media, to get a DAS. OK.
2 weeks ago, the first couple days, I got a DAS each day. On Day 3, at Epcot WS back entrance Guest Relations, I was again offered a card (good for 60 days), a DAS card linked to my son, not to the Guest Pass. So when entering an attraction using DAS, he used that card. When entering using Genie+, he used the Guest Pass (and to enter park of course). I asked about this and the CM said it was a new policy. Not sure if they are just testing it? It seems to bypass any abuse because my sons photo pops up for them to verify it is him using that card. We were only there 5 days, but it was nice to use for the last 3 days.
So perhaps this is new, it seems like a good idea.
