I purchased a bag of Tyson chicken breast strips (pre-cooked)from Costco thinking that they would be good for work lunch salads....well....NOT. They get mushy and taste awful.

Any ideas of what to do with the rest of the bag? :confused3 Besides nachos where else can i use them?

I am hoping that the bag doesn't take up a permanent spot in my freezer!

I'm pretty sure Costco will take back the unused portion and give you a refund. I'd do that rather than try to suffer through the rest of them if you go there fairly regularly. I think they can even look up your receipt off your membership card.

Send them my way!

That's really odd, I get them all the time and I love them! I think they are perfect for salads, that's the only thing they get eaten with...my kids even enjoy them. It's great, pop them in the microwave for a few secs and throw them on top, yummy!

Maybe you got a bad bag, I would take them back.

try frying them up with a bit of olive oil... i do that with mine( a different brand), i never just microwave them....the other night i put mine in the frying pan for just a few minutes with thai sauce and threw on rice...crisps them up and they were yummy!!1

PS...could they be a little freezer burnt with some ice on them, that happened to my last pack...

I find that most (if not all) pre-cooked frozen chicken is pretty awful. I really like these new quick stir-frys in the frozen section that have come out, but have yet to find one with meat that I like . I usually end up using my own fresh and tossing out what came in the bag.

As long as it's not the breaded variety... make chicken stew!

Microwave the meat just a bit, shred it, put in crockpot. Fresh is always better, but our easy version is: two cans each of low-sodium chicken broth and low-sodium Veg-All, Margaret Holmes brand Triple Succotash (or whatever equivalent), large can stewed or crushed tomatoes, regular can diced tomatoes, a med onion (diced small), liberal dose of black pepper, add a bit of garlic, and you're good to go! Sometimes we add 1/4c barley and 1/2t poultry seasoning. Cook that bad boy all day on low and it's heaven in a bowl. :cloud9:

Then you can either eat on it all weekend, feed all the neighbors, or save some in your freezer for next week... and the next.

OR

In olive oil, saute the chicken pieces with red onion, minced garlic, kalamata olives, maybe a couple artichoke hearts, reduce with a little red wine and balsamic vinegar. Serve over rice/ orzo. Great quick entree with a Mediterranean flavor.

HTH! :hippie:

I'm not sure if you are or not, sound like you may be defrosting them first. It is recommended not to defrost them, even if you're frying them!

I like the soup idea from a pp, but I got them for chicken alfredo.

Jarred alfredo sauce, cooked noodles, chicken, and bake until it's all heated through.

Served it it to all the family on Xmas and they didn't complain, lol.

I purchased that same bag at Costco and am not crazy about it either. I've been using them cooked and hot in things like fajitas and in a chicken/rice/artichoke casserole I make. Seems like it's not great breastmeat; some of the pieces are fatty and you have to pick through it a bit before using.

OTOH, I LOVE the Tyson's breaded chicken pieces. They were sampling a different brand last week and it had terrible flavor---for those I'm sticking with Tyson's. Of course, we have to buy the Mickey head nuggets too, lol!

I bought those last year and thought they were awful/inedible too! I returned them to Publix and got a full refund. I wouldn't usually return food but they were pretty expensive.

The budget buster chicken pizzle is going back to Costco. I was defrosting them first and that made them even worse. Blech. They really are inedible. Maybe they are a diet food. An appetite suppressant of sorts... LOL (really-the Navy trained my husband to eat anything for 22 long years and he won't even eat these.)

I do appreciate all the ideas. Stick with the other chicken products from now on!
