How smoky is smoky? DH and I want to go to the clubs and enjoy our evenings, but neither one of us will recycle clothes if they smell smoky later. We hate that smell! (sorry to any smokers!)

Is it bad, or just a little smoky?

I never saw ANY smoke. I believe only outdoor open areas are smoking areas. I don't think any of the indoor "public" rooms are smoking areas. Maybe I'm wrong?

If you hate the smell like we do then it is BAD!!

We stay away from the clubs after 9p.m Thats when smokers can smoke. Some really fun stuff starts after 9 but non smokers who hate the smell can't enjoy it.

:( :(

It can get VERY bad, particularly in Rockin' Bar D/Wavebands. I love the adult entertainment like the 70s Party and Match Your Mate, but an hour is about all I can stand it because of my allergies. There are two problems: First, the ventilation is the pits, so the smoke smell sometimes drifts all the way down the hall to the elevators. Second, a large portion of the non-smoking area is literally right in front of smoking. If you don't want your clothes to smell smoky, be careful where you sit or the people at the table right behind you might literally be blowing smoke onto you. I know that bars and smoking go together, but I wish they would ban smoking during the events/parties. Surely the smokers can stand to light up before or wait till after, or else run up to deck 4 for a quick puff while a show is going on.

:( I'm sooo disappointed to hear this. I was really looking forward to going to the clubs on this cruise since we didn't have time on our 3 day cruise and we don't get out much . I can not stand the smell of smoke and my eyes burn terribly. Maybe we'll get lucky and not have many smoker's while we're in the clubs (sorry, don't mean to offend anyone, but the smoke is like onion for me, I just can't get used to it). Connecticut has just outlawed smoking in bars and restaurants so at least we'll be able to start going here without smoke.

I'm one who hates smelling cigarette smoke with a passion, but I have to tell you that on our three Disney cruises we spent quite a bit of time almost every night in Rockin' D Bar or Wavebands and the smoke never bothered me at all, honest!! Cross my heart and hope to die!! :teeth:

I felt the ventilation system was just fine, and there were a few times we were sitting right beside someone who was smoking and I honestly didn't even know it until I saw the cigarette, I never smelled it. And we never noticed any lingering smoke smell on our clothes the next day either.

Maybe it was because were were on VACATION, on a DISNEY CRUISE SHIP and having a FANTASTIC time, I dunno...:boat:
but the smoke just really didn't bother me at all.

I guess I will be packing the Febreeze, cause I want to go out dancing! After 15 years of marriage, DH owes me at least a night out-either 70's or 80's; I don't care which! I was planning on packing light, but I don't like the smokey smell either, so maybe we'll just throw the smokey outfit onto the Verandah until the next night, and recycle it then!
:cool1:

I agree with Barb, I thought the ventilation system was nonexistent. When you walk into Rockin Bar D you can see the smoke reflecting in the lights just sitting there, not being drawn up into a vent or anything. I'm probably more intolerant of it than others though being from California where there is no smoking at all indoors in public places. After we left, we did go up on deck 10 to "blow" some of the smell out of our clothes, that works pretty well :earseek:

Is there any bar/club that is non-smoking after 9 PM? If not, there should be.

New York State is now totally non smoking, but we've long ago gotten out of the habit of going out, because of the smoke. I looked forward to going out on board ship because it would only be a short stroll 'home'. Everyone says dueling pianos and the 70's party are so fun. But I have asthma. So I guess that means no party for me.:(

IMO, the smoking in the clubs is bad. We usually suffer it out until the 'show' is over. We'll go over to Promenade Lounge where it is smoke-free.

Actually, what is also nice is when they have the Promenade Lounge entertainment on deck at Quiet Cove pool at night. That is really nice.

I guess we will pack some Febreeze and maybe some dryer sheets. I really want to drag my DH to karaoke and make him sing, he has such an awesome voice. :smooth:

I was really hoping it would be fairly smoke-free. When we go out at home, we come home and almost immedietely throw our clothes in the washer and take showers to get rid of the stink.

Good excuse for a moonlight stroll though, right?!?puckerup:

I agree with Barb, I can only handle an hour of smoke and then I am out of there. I feel bad that I cannot enjoy the entertainment. I have asthma. We try to sit close to the wall on the side of the stage, as far from the smokers as possible.

I also agree with Barb. There is a non-smoking section, but it is in a terrible location and the room is so small it doesn't matter anyway. It would be better if the shows were all non-smoking! We have noticed on the several cruises we have been on, that people don't tend to stay long. I wonder if this may be the reason??

Also, the ceilings are very low so the smoke has no where to go.

Yes, you can smell the cigarette smoke in Rockin Bar D at times...a lot depends if there are many smokers in there at show time...also, remember that DCL uses a smoke machine during a lot of their shows....much of the smoke you see hanging in the air is not cigarette smoke but smoke from a smoke machine. It is located in the middle of the room and emits smoke from somewhere near the ceiling.
