I reviewed the rules for booking for someone else and I found this:

3. Making Reservations for Non-Club Members

1) Club Members may use their Home Resort Vacation Points to reserve Vacation Homes that will be occupied by non-Club Members.

2) When a Club Member uses his or her Home Resort Vacation Points to reserve Vacation Homes on behalf of a non-Club Member, and the Club Member does not charge any rental or other fees to the non-Club Member for the reservation, the non-Club Member is eligible for all or some of the Club Member privileges and benefits that a Club Member would normally receive during his or her stay in the reserved Vacation Home. If the non-Club Member is renting, it is the responsibility of the Member to notify Member Services when making the reservation. Member privileges and benefits cannot be extended to non-Club Members who rent Vacation Homes from Club Members.

I have booked a reservation for our best friends for this October at the BLT and I was wondering what privileges they would have (Top of the World Lounge, free internet, etc.) since they are not renting from us.

Thanks for any info

I think that any benefits your friends receive will be hit or miss. If they ask to see a DVC member card, then your friends will be out of luck.

The wording does say "all or some", which means that they can limit what those benefits are to a non-member.

I have read that non-members have gotten free internet and access to the TOTWL. However, as mentioned, if they get charged for internet and the resort needs a membership card to have it removed, they would be out of luck since they don't have it.

I agree with Sandi that it appears to be hit or miss. As a former frequent renter (now an owner :cool1:) - I was never charged for Internet access and sometimes (but only on a few occasions), we received the DVC discount at restaurants without asking for it or being asked to show a membership card. We were always greeted with a warm "Welcome home" when we checked in. I haven't stayed at BLT, so I don't know about Top of the World.

As renters, we always assumed that we wouldn't receive any member benefits and were pleasantly surprised whenever we did. Others' experiences may be different.
