Club level VS Concierge

Here's a crazy question. Is there a distinction between club level and concierge? It would explain little differences I've noticed between the upper floor rooms amenities and us ground floor rooms. Example- they get reg size water bottles in their rooms and we don't. We get the small 12 oz bottles in the lounge. Free is free so I'm not griping! Also, we weren't met at the entrance when we arrived at the hotel and yet I see other guests being led in and taken up to their elevator. Again, I'm not complaining, just wondering!

I think they're the same. When we stayed club level at the Contemporary, no one met us at the ME or took us to check in upstairs. I was rather disappointed, actually. We had to wait in a long check-in line even though I specifically asked someone (who obviously knew what he was doing-- standing in the lobby, asking if he could help us) where to check in for staying on the Atrium Club level. A day later, I saw a family arrive in the elevator with a CM to check in upstairs. I guess perhaps my family doesn't look like we belong on the Club level.

Which resort are you referring to, specifically? Many of the resorts have club level rooms that aren't actually on the same floor as the club lounge.
As for not being met at the entrance and led upstairs--yeah, I haven't got that special greeting either. We stayed in one of the garden cottage suites at BWI in January and I had to go to the regular check in desk at the lobby. No special check in for us.

There is no room classification of Concierge, only Club Level. They are one in the same. There have been many, many reports of greeters not greeting every Club Level guest. No rhyme or reason, they have cut back on staffing so if they greeters are busy no go.

The Grand Floridian. If they were busy I could understand not being greeted but the resort is not busy at all. Dansdad just posted Club and concierge are the same. Like I said, I was only curious. We're having a wonderful time and we're lucky to be here!

I'm just curious since I'm trying understand your first post, which building at GF are you in?

There is a reason it's called "club level" and not "concierge". While as a club level guest, you are offered club lounge privileges and some planning help, no WDW resort offers true concierge service.

The sixth floor villas at Jambo House are called Kilimanjaro Club Concierge level villas by DVC.

Agreed with previous posts - they are the same. I wonder if whether or not you're greeted and shown up to your room at the entrance is random, has to do with if a certain cast member is available, if you're there for a special occasion, etc. We once got an amazing club level upgrade and were greeted at the door, but it was for our honeymoon.

No but if the CM is already escorting another guest, or on break, they may not be available to escort you.

Technically the CL's no longer have greeters. Those positions were discontinued in the cutbacks before the opening of Shanghai. You may from time to time find someone to check you in but officially that does not exist anymore. CM's in those positions were reallocated to other areas. Denny was one of our favorite at GF and before he was a greeter he worked in IPO. He now works front desk.

I doubt they will ever return. With the advances and high percentage use of online check in management feels $$ are better spent enhancing the lounge offerings. We know most CM's at the resorts we frequent and it is not necessary for us but it really severs a connection that people make with the CM's and a more personal level of service. I think this will have unintended consequences over many years to come.

Yes, out of 17 CL trips, our last two were the only times we were not met outside while getting off the ME. To be honest, it really does take some of the excitement out of the arrival.

Interesting. Last week, we were met outside by a CL CM who took us in, gave us a little tour of the resort and a rundown of the club, answered any questions, etc. We had done online check in, so we didn't have to actually check in. She even took us to our room. I guess the regular CL CMs do this now and there isn't an official "greeter" position?

Cool, thanks. I was just at SL back in April. We had a large water bottle placed in our room each day, although a couple of days they skipped/forgot.
Hence my original inquiry! It seems there's no rhyme or reason to who gets what perks! As I said, we're just happy to be here. HAGD All!

OP, I agree. It's completely hit or miss. Years ago, IPO would actively reach out to guests via e-mail as soon as you booked CL. That hasn't happened to us for at least 3-4 years. I know IPO was discontinued last year and they centralized everything, but even now (we are staying WL CL in August), I have gotten no communication for them and know I would actively have to seek them out to get any pre-arrivel help (which I really don't need, so I won't do it). Even when I have reached out for planning help in the past, it was an absolute hassle. I rememer one time staying CL at GF, I had reached out about booking a pirate cruise for my son on a certain day. The only response I got was, it's not held that day. Not, "I'm sorry, it's not held that day, it's held on the following days OR you could go to another resort to do it that day." It was really, I felt, a complete brush-off, so I just don't involve them in planning anymore. I also found that the greeting upon arrival is completely hit-or-miss. We once arrived at AKL for CL check-in and there was no one to greet us, so I had to stand in the regular check-in line before they finally got someone to take us up. Then, I basically had to check-in all over again (and this was at the beginning of MB's when no one knew what was really going on with them). It was such a waste of time. Same thing happened at GF RPC. No greeting, no one to take us up to the room. At this point, I only book CL if I think we'll get any value out of the offerings in the lounge, because planning through them is like walking through molasses. We stay in hotels all over the world where I utilize concierge to book airport transportation, offsite and onsite restaurant reservations, tours, etc. It usually takes a simple e-mail to these hotels to get things planned and squared away. WDW simply doesn't do this.

Have you asked the club hosts about it? How do you know the upper floors are getting larger water bottles?

Because it was a club host that told me when I asked. We have stayed in the main building(concierge) and always had full size water bottles in our room.

I have stayed RPC 3 times (last time was in September) & have never had any water bottles left for us in the room.
