Clothing question for the ladies

I'm just starting to sort out my clothes looking what to pack but was wondering whether or not how dressy you need to be in the evenings, if at all?
Do people tend to make an effort when dining?

For day time I have lots of shorts, cropped trousers etc, loads of t-shirts/vest tops and some summer dresses.
What do you think to wearing summer dresses in the parks? Would they be a nightmare with the rides?

Evening I'm kinda struggling as I either have really formal wear or a bit too casual!

Finally, are there any clothing 'faux pas' when it comes to Disney?

the only "faux-pas" would be on some "signature dining" where formal clothes are more or less required.

It also depends on the weather. You probably won't wear the same outfit on a cold february night (cold is relative, but it sometimes gets cold) or on an august or september night.

My wife went with clothes ranging from capris, cargo shorts, or very light dress (lilo style) and she never seemed out of place (even though, to be honest, we never did the fancier restaurants) for places like Boma's, Tusker house, Ohana's and the likes.

Sometimes people might tell you to avoid tank tops and very short shorts ...

i guess that as long as you don't go in swimwear you'll do fine.

Once again the only formal places are signature restaurants (and on cruise ships) but other than that my motto is "come as you are"

Summer dresses my be difficult to wear on some rides. We're cargo shorts all the way. Easy to wear, and lots of room in the pockets. And T-shirts.

As long as you're not in a bikini or hot pants whatever you wear is fine! lol

I did many ADR's last time, cheaper ones and signature ones, and everyone was wearing casual clothes, top and shorts, jeans, skirts etc

I agree with the fact that pretty much 'anything goes' but on a practicle note, light weight cotton is always good and something that covers your shoulders can help especially if you have gone light on the sunscreen. (OMG, I sound like my mother)

Wear whatever you're comfortable in. As regular diners we've eaten in lots of restaurants. We quite like getting dressed up for dinner, but have eaten in signature restaurants (Cali Grill, Artist Point & Yachtsmans for example) where we've been in more formal attire, but have been surrounded by other diners in shorts, t shirts and trainers. Disney suggest more formal attire in the signatures, but as long as you're decent (no bikinis etc) you'll be very welcome.

That's great thanks. I can safely say that I'm definitely not intending to don any hot pants or bikini's

With the dining, DH has just informed me that on the DDP you can only go to some of the signature restaurants before a certain time anyway so I think the more formal wear will be later in the evening maybe.

Why is it that even though I have more than enough clothes to take, I can't seem to tear my self away from looking on Littlewoods, Next, Asos, very..........

Cropped pants and a t shirt/vest top will be fine in most restaurants.

Signatures are a bit smarter - I wore next linen trousers and a Next cotton top and felt fine.

A cardy is good as air con can make the restaurants cold.

Maybe take a dress or two if you like for evenings.

I tend to wear shorts or cropped trousers plus t shirts in the parks and cropped trousers or linen trousers in the restaurants.

I wear birkenstocks day or night.

Florida is very casual.

As long as the restaurant is open there isn't a restriction on when you can dine, even if you're on the DDP. Most of our dinners are after 8 PM.

The only restaurant that enforces a strict dress code is Victoria & Albert.

For the rest of the signatures, if you go to the Disney dining reservation page and pick any of the signatures, under "Guest Policies" there is a description of the dress code. Even then it is very loosely enforced. They are more likely to enforce the "not allowed" clothing.

For the sigs in the parks (Le Cellier, Brown Derby, CRT) pretty much everyone is in park clothing. In fact those restaurants don't even list a dress code on the reservation pages.

At any of the non-signature Table Service restaurants most people wear park attire.

For the sigs we like to dress up a little, but still be comfortable since we're on vacation.

One thing I would say - is when it is really hot outside the air-con can be REALLY cold.

I recall eating in Tony's in MK one September - it was well into the high 90's outside so we had vest tops/shorts on. In the restaurant, such was the power of the air-con that we were actually shivering. It was freezing in there!

If eating in the evening I always have a cardi with me as I find even at night it can get cold in the restaurants.

Good tip about the cardy, wouldn't have thought of taking one out with me but can imagine it being cold in the air con.

I just wanted to add I live in skirts day and night. Generally haven't had any problems on rides.
