Okay, so we leave in a few short weeks.

Since the weather is changing here, it's time to get the shorts and tees out of the drawers and into suitcases, right?

What can we expect with the weather on board?

Since alot of you have cruised before what is your experience with what to wear during the day on board? I mean do you get up in the morning and put on your bathing suit and a cover-up? It would save putting in shorts and not wearing them.

Is is cold in the hallways?

Thanks,
Michelle

We just returned 10/9 & the weather was perfect:sunny:

For boarding I did wear my bathing suit under shorts & a tee. Ds also did. We hit the pool after we had a bite to eat, there is no one in it at that time:bounce:

They will do a group photo when you embark, if you want it. There is a line to wait to get in and then to embark - so comfort comfort comfort.

I only felt chilly in the adults bar & dh went to the room to get my jacket. Everywhere else was fine.

I never just wore a bathing suit during the week onboard. I am not one for just sitting in the sun and frying and unless I was going to the adult pool I wouldn't have my bathing suit on. We went in the goofy pool once but its so packed we didn't do that again. I wore shorts everyday and pants for dinner....I used the same pants for 2 dinners and just took them right off after dinner. I also packed pretty light and did laundry during 1 "down times" and again right after CC.

As for packing I got the best advise from this board before we left for our cruise. Pack what you think you need then take out half of it. We wore t-shirt and shorts during the day, rotating these to get a couple uses out of each. I did the same for the evening. I had black capries that I wore to dinner only and hung them up after dinner to wear them again. All you really need to bring is shorts or cover up for the day, and casual clothes for dinner. Depending on which cruise your on you might want to bring a nice dress for formal night. :hyper:

For all of you who change after dinner, did you change into jeans, shorts, etc to hang out at night? I'm all worried that if I change into comfortable clothes to go out at night, I'll look out of place among people who are still dressed from dinner.

Hi michelle
I wore shorts everyday. When went to the pools or beach I would wear my bathing suit with a cover up. At night I would wear my dinner clothes and change into shorts afterwards.
Make sure you bring warm clothes for the movies like a sweater or sweatshirt.I is cold in that theatre. I didn't feel cold in the shows though.

This is what I did too! I had 1 pair of jean shorts, 1 pair of jean capris, 1 pair of jeans (for the plane ride home where it was colder than Florida), 1 pair of black pants that I wore with different tops at night that rotated through the week, and 1 nice dress (that was used on Formal and Semi-formal night). I had tops and t-shirts that I wore twice each to make it through the night.

This is VERY different from our first 7 night cruise where I had about 3 times the amount of clothes that I had this time!

How do you do it? I can see wearing pants/shorts more than once, but tops???? Especially in a tropical environment??

There is laundry on floors 6 and 7. Bring your own dryer sheets though, if you like those, because they only sold liquid Downy in the machine (actually, I brought my own powder laundry soap too). The machines use quarters, so try to bring some of those too (I can't remember how much each machine was--DH did the laundry).

1.00 a load and it took 2 cycles to dry them....you can put in enough for the dryer to just continue to dry them so you only haveto come back to take them out.

If you are only wearing the clothes for the hour and a half you have dinner you are never anywhere that is not air conditioned and it is cool enough that you wouldn't sweat. I would get dressed, go to dinner, leave dinner and go to the room and change prior to the show.

Gotcha. I thought you meant you wore stuff you wore all day (not just to dinner) more than once. I was thinking maybe I should pack Febreeze. I can understand wearing dinner stuff more than once.

Glad to hear that black capris are acceptable at dinner! We are doing the 3 night,so I want to keep the packing to a minimum so I can just do carry-ons for the plane. Would it be acceptable for my sons 11 and 13 to wear polo shirts with navy pants and leather sandals to dinner, and maybe a tropical shirt to Parrot Cay for dinner? They have really big feet (men's 12 and 13!) so I would rather not pack their dress shoes if I can avoid it.

That made me laugh. My DS is 13 and wears a size 14, so I feel your pain. I actually have to go out and buy some form of dress shoe AND water shoes for our 3-night. Wish me luck...this shoe shopping might break the bank (assuming I can find anything he likes).

LOL...uggg no way!! I sweat to much to be wearing anything 2 days in a row.

sweet angel - My oldest son wears a 14 extra wide or a 15, and I have been very successful finding inexpensive shoes for him at either Payless or Famous Footwear. I can't see spending big bucks for dress shoes that they wear so infrequently! I generally get his sneakers at a Reebok Outlet, which not only has a great selection of sizes, but can also get something from another store if they don't have what you want! I ususally get two pair if I find something that he is happy with.

Oh, dear!! Looks like I'm overpacked already...and I still have six weeks to go!!! YIKES! Now I have to decide what to leave and what to take! Decisions, decisions!

Keep all those tips coming cuz I'm definitely gonna need it.
