We will be in Anaheim from 21st-28th September. Can anyone tell me what is likely to be closed for refurbishment while we are there?

Thanks!

G'day mate! :) I would just keep an eye on the Disney website. And check here as well. In addition, calling Disney Guest Services can be of help, at times.

Congratulations on your timing.
Mr. Lincoln is scheduled to be returning to the Opera House on September 25th.

DCA Closures
They will be remodeling and retheming the Northwest corner fo the pier. This will mean the demolition of Golden Dreams and the adjoining bathroom. Souvenir 66 and the Corn Dog Castle will be closed from June 1, 2009 until 2011 possibly according to employee publication lists. Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill should be reopened as a new themed restaurant on September 14th.

Pizza Oom Mow Mow and Burger Invasion are scheduled to be merged into a beer garden or other eatery and the pizza place closed this year so watch for that.

The SS Rustworthy and Jumpin Jellyfish are scheduled for removal this year but who knows. Mullholland Madness, Orange Stinger and the rest of the northwest side is supposed to start retheming end of this year and is a wait and see project.

Well, on our first two trips, Matterhorn was closed, and that was a Sept trip and an Oct trip. I think that the first time it was for a big refurb and the second time they were saying it was a normal seasonal closure for that ride. The next year we were there in Sept and it was open (no seasonal closure?). So that's a little confusing. :)

Assuming Haunted Mansion is opening up with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay, it might be done by the time of your visit. Past years its closure for that has been set between Labor Day and somewhere between the 21st and 26th (opening seems to coincide with if Thanksgiving is earlier or later in the month, interestingly), but this year it has to be open somehow on 9/9 for the HM anniversary, so it will be interesting to see when it opens for that, if they are doing it this year (holding out constant hope that they will STOP IT with the nbc overlay b/c I don't much like it!).

We went Sept 13-20 2008. It's a Small World was closed but I think it normally only closes in November for the Christmas decor to go up. The Fantasmic show was not on. The Haunted Mansion was closed for Halloween decor. The Ariel show in CA was not on. I think there were a few other things closed but not too much. We are planning to go the same time this year (19-26) because it was so nice not having to fight the crowds. The hours were shortened and the main parades were only on at limited times/days (weekends mostly). Good luck -- I bet you will have a wonderful time!
