when I was in wdw last week, was told tarzan show closing in 2006.

find that odd, because just announced today that Spring 2006 Tarzan is coming to Broadway.

I would think they would want to keep that alive to promote the play,,,

unless they are revamping it?

anyone know?

I believe they are going to make the venue an enclosed theater like they did the one for FOTLK and a new show will be there when the redo is completed. I know a lot of people like Tarzan Rocks but I won't mind seeing something different there. At least, whatever it is will be in climate controlled conditions from now on. I think I read Tarzan Rocks was closing in October but I'm not positive on that.

The latest rumor is that Tarzan will close in January in order to enclose the theater for both a more comfortable experience and to allow for a better aural experience since Everest will be opening and will inevitably have screaming coaster enthusiasts on it all day.

Replacements that have been mentioned include a "Finding Nemo" show and a redo of the "Journey to Jungle Book" show which was in the theater during AK's opening years. Personally, I think the latter works better than a "Nemo" show. Nemo doesn't quite fit into either Dinoland or Asia. At least Tarzan and Jungle Book have that Asia feeling to them.

When we were down there, the one CM told us that they would be revamping due to the noise they expect from Everest.

I'm glad that they are going to enclose that theater... after trying to see the show for the first time this past week in the horrible heat, we decided that there is NO WAY that we could have sat in there and watched anything without becoming sick. It must have been 110 degrees no kidding. We left within minutes and still didn't feel well for a while... people were streaming out because of the heat. I did really want to see the show too... maybe during our winter trip we can.

I have also heard that they are taking the show to Japan's park. They offered all the existing cast the opportunity to go with the show.

Last month people were leaving in droves before the show was even half over. :earboy2:

We saw this show in 2002 and afterwards we wished we had back all the time we spent waiting in line for seats and then setting in that hot stadium. They can do something better.

What about the noise that's come from tarzan?? Except perhaps if you were just entering the park in the Oasis, or on the farest point in the safari, I think you can hear that everywhere in AK!!. Regardless if you liked it or not, I always have felt the noise from tarzan is very disruptive to a natural 'wild' immersion experience at AK.

When we were there over Memorial Day weekend, we saw an elderly lady take a nose dive down the steps from the heat. It took paramedics about twenty-five minutes to get her cleared out in a cervical collar on a gurney, while they held the show.

The poor lady's grandson was sitting there watching and crying, it was really awful. I know it was from the heat. I was sweating and heating up really badly, too. I had to take off my shoes and socks and my DBF was holding my hair up and blowing on my neck to help cool me off.

We have seen this show many many many times (maybe 4 or 5 times per trip!) and I have never seen people leaving this show in "droves" -

Also we have been all times of year and never found the heat over bearing in there..

WE LOVE TARZAN ROCKS!!
