Any DISers watch morning show today?

A co-worker heard something on a morning show today about IASW closing for adjustments because the boats are bottoming out. I googled and didn't come up with anything and my firend doesn't know the specifics.

Anybody have any info??

Speaking of IASW at DL in CA.WDW version had a refurb not to long ago and looks so much better now.:goodvibes :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I heard on the Today Show that It's A Small World would be closing for 10 months in order to fix some of its passenger boats, but rumor is that Disney wants to shut it down for good and is trying to break the news to us gently. Has anyone else heard anything about this?:sad2:

They are closing IASW at DL for 9 months after the holiday season. The tracks and the boats need to be redone. It is scheduled to open again next year in time for the holiday season.

I hope you're right. On TV this morning they mentioned both DL and DW but showed a video of It's A Small World at Disneyland. This is one of our favorite rides. Disney wouldn't be the same without it.

There's some rides that are just too classic for Disney to ever close down...and it's a small world is one of them! I know a lot of people think it's the most annoying ride in the world, but to me a trip to Disney just isn't complete without riding it at least once!

We are hoping to go to Disneyland over Presidents Day weekend - we still have yet to see California Adventure -and I saw that IASW will be closed then.

It seems that they did a major renovation of IASW when we were there last time too - that was about 8 or nine years ago. It must be something about our visits! :)

Refurb on WDW version of IASW not to long ago so I think they are speking of DL IASW.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Oh I hope not this is my favorite ride of all the parks. I love the coasters and everything else, but this is my favorite.

Disneylands upgrade of its 41-year-old attraction will include deepening the waterway and making its boats more buoyant.

They said that the Heavier-than-anticipated loads have been causing the boats to come to a standstill in two different spots, there was also some remark made that fat ppl are not to blame!

Very kind of them!

Can you imagine the new health warning sign on the ride...

Those that have had too many Mickey Bars, Mickey Waffles, Character Glow Drinks, Candy from Goofy's candy co. and anything else related to eating can no longer ride IASW because lead bottomed people make the boats no longer float. On that note, no one who has had floats can't ride either. People who drink floats will sink the boat!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I hope it's not in WDW. My 3 year old just loves this ride (we started going there when he was 15 months old) and the moment we enter Magic Kingom, he guides us to go to Fantasy Land.

My 3 yr. old DD would be devastated if they closed "Small World" as I know millions of other kids(big and small) would also be. I don't think they could close it without a fight from the public. But who knows for sure?

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!! IASW is going to be closed during my trip to DLR -- as is Jungle Cruise! Man, I'm kinda depressed now. :(

It's not. It is DisneyLand. They are having issues with the trough that has to be fixed.

Nothing I've seen is saying they are shutting down IASW for good. They are only closing the DL one for a refurb. IASW is a classic ride and I don't see them closing it for good. It was not that long ago that they refurbed WDW's IASW so we know they aren't closing that one, they're not about to spend the money to refurb a ride just to close it shortly thereafter.

I agree. Some people think it's annoying, but it was my first Disney ride :(, and it's a classic!
