Closing a resale?

Can anyone share how long it normally takes to close a resale after you find out Disney is not going buy the contract back? My husband is driving me crazy wanting to book a trip to go golfing in May and wants to buy the DVC golf membership! I assume you you have to provide some type of evidence to get the DVC discount, I told him that I did not think taking his signed contract was going to work!!

We passed ROFR around Jan. 23rd and our contract closed on Feb. 2nd--about 2 weeks later. We were in the Disney system and made our first reservation on Feb. 7th!

We made our offer, another weekish later we got through ROFR, and then a couple weeks later we closed (it was actually closer to 3 weeks, but would have been 2 if we had been in town for part of the paperwork, it was delayed because of us). It was just about a month from start to finish. A woman who made an offer the same week as me hasn't gotten anywhere close to closing yet, so it can go slow. I think you should expect it can take between 3 (very fast!)-8 weeks. I'm guessing 4-5 weeks is pretty standard. I was expecting it to take 2 months, but was very happy with the 1!

Thanks! I was thinking that waiting for ROFR would be the variable part (it has been 3 weeks since it was submitted and no news!). I guess we have a few weeks after ROFR and then another week to get into the "system"... That will put us in the 8 weeks from start to finish range. Longer than I would like, especially given there are points going to expire in August that could not be banked...

I think it really varies. Our ROFR came back in three days. We were psyched that this meant the whole process would go quickly and it didn't for us. From that point, estoppel took exactly four weeks. After that it was about two weeks later that we were finally in the Disney system and had our member number. So it was just a tad over six weeks from start to finish for us.
