Closet size in one bedroom villa

I was wondering are the closets in one bedroom villas are big enough for a pack n play? I remember when I stayed at the grand Floridian the walk in closet in the master was very big, but we didn’t try to put the pack n play in it. Also not sure if all the one bedroom villas have large walk in closets or only some hotels do?

Trying to figure out the best room to book we have a 3 year old and a baby. 3 year old sleeps through the night but the baby doesn’t. I don’t want the baby to wake the toddler up.

Was also considering connecting rooms instead but I’m not sure how likely that would to get since it’s not a bookable thing.

I’m not a DVC member but we stay in villas a lot so I thought posting here would be best

I am currently going through this same closet dilemma! I will typically look up room layouts online to see what we would be working with. However one short trip this didn’t work out for us at VGF when we got a HA 1-bedroom where the closet was not big enough for a PNP. For our next trip we may do a Poly lake view studio and stick the baby in the shower room, just to be able to watch the fireworks after bedtime.

I was just going to suggest using a shower room for the PNP. I can't speak of the viability of a PNP in every villa closet, but can't think of any off the top of my head that I know for sure would work. Most 1-bedroom villas have separate shower/bath areas that should work though.

The closet off the main bedroom in VGF is enormous! The closet at BLT is microscopic compared to it. Since BLT’s one bedroom has two bathrooms, you may be able to put the PNP in the master bathroom and use the second bathroom if needed throughout the night. I can’t recall the closet size at BWV.

I’ve read several times of fitting the PNP in the master closet at BWV, but I don’t have personal experience.

A few months ago when staying somewhere that provided a PNP, DD brought a blackout cover for it that worked great at helping the baby to sleep. Apparently the cover was easy to travel with. But I don’t think it made it quiet for the baby, just dark.

Do people close the door to the closet if it does fit? Wondering if there’s good air flow in there or the door would need to stay open?

I absolutely would not close the door. Lack of air circulation is linked to SIDS.

You could leave the closet door open but close the doors to the bedroom and the other part of the bathroom. That should make it dark enough while allowing HVAC circulation. As I said, I don’t have any personal experience, so I don’t know how people managed specifically.

The closets in most 1-bedrooms should be plenty large enough for a 3x4 pack-n-play...not sure if yours is larger than that. Some resorts like Riviera and BLT have smaller closets, and there may be issues with converted hotel room villas like Copper Creek. At Boardwalk, Boulder, Beach, GF - I would guess the closets in the master are around 4.5 - 5 feet by 4 feet or so (I never thought to measure, but they're large and walkin). The door is a vented slider - most likely you'd want to just leave it slid open. There are also second closets in the entryway of the 1-bedrooms...though in some cases depending on the design of the villa, the connecting door can be in the front entrance (Saratoga), so you lose that closet.

My 13 year old nephew was able to sleep in the closet of the 1BR at Boulder Ridge (don't ask, he was 13 and it was by choice...). It would definitely fit a P&P.

I have zero experience with sleeping in a closet, but wanted to say that the closet doors, at least at BWV, is entirely made of slats. Similar to a permanently partially-opened plantation shutter.

At those ages, we usually split up. DH slept with DS out in the living room and I slept with the baby in the pack n play in the bedroom. We didn't trust DS not to try to open the patio or front doors.

Thanks everyone this was all really helpful! I ended up talking my husband into doing a 2 bedroom villa to eliminate some stress although it’s very expensive so might still switch to a one bedroom we aren’t going until November

I've used a pack 'n play in the 1 bedroom villa main bedroom closet at VGF more than once. Plenty of space to fit it, but the door is solid and there is no AC vent in there so I left the door open enough to allow good airflow. I had a baby monitor with us that also included a temperature reading, so was able to monitor the temp in there. Other option is to put the pack 'n' play in the bathtub portion of the bathroom and close off the door to the shower room (we've done this with a toddler sized air mattress for an older child too.) The other slider door into the main bedroom still has to be cracked open for airflow in this case too though.
