I am thinking of taking a quick 15th anniversary trip without the kids and would love some hotel input.

Thanks!!:bounce:

If you want my opinion, stay ONSITE. We just got back from our first onsite stay at RPR. FOTL is SOOOO worth it. I will personally never go to Universal again without at least staying a few nights onsite.

Some of these hotels I haven't stayed at but I've talked to the staff, and some of the guess about these hotels. I've never had a problem with hotels like; Fairfield Inn & Suites and Wingate Inn.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites is located right across the street from Universal and I've heard great things about it. You can view their website here, http://www.universaldiscounthotels.com

Also, I've stated at many of the Wingate Inn and they are always great with service, you can again view their website here, http://www.wingateorlando.com. Also, if you are planning to visit this hotel I would contact Josie at the Wingate by e-mailing her here, josie@wingateorlando.com, for upcoming deals.

One last hotel that looks good for familys is the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites (Convention Center/International Driver Area). Universal is 1.5 miles from this hotel. It includes Free scheduled shuttle to Universal/IOA/Seaworld/Wet 'n Wild - Game room, Outdoor pool. You can visit their website here, http://www.holidayinnconvention.com

If you need any help just e-mail me, aaronmyers@bellsouth.net, with all your travel information and i'll help you on your way.

I'm with Rescue Ranger. If at all possible, try to stay on site at least a night or two. If not, I have stayed at both the HI across from Universal on the Comfort Inn and Suites also across the street from Universal. I would stay at both again if the need arose, with a preference for Comfort Inn.

There's also an AmeriSuites close by. I'm not sure how far, but we walked from there. They also have a shuttle. It was nice.

The closest hotels to Universal are the Doubletree (formerly the Radisson), Holiday Inn, Amerisuites, and Days Inn. Others are just a bit farther away along Major Boulevard.

There is a 2 story Holiday Inn Express on Intl. Drive with rates starting at about $55 per night. It's a clean and quiet hotel with great view of Intl. Drive and Islands of Adventure. You can purchase discounted park tickets if you stay at the hotel and I use that perk a lot. Here is a review from I found.

(from IOAguide.net)
Holiday Inn Express (International Drive)

6323 International Drive
Orlando, Florida 32819

Right down the street from Universal Orlando is a Holiday Inn Express on the world famous International Drive. If you are looking for a cheap rate on a hotel and want to stay near Universal, this is it. Located a block from Universal Orlando plus a short commute to Sea World and Wet N Wild, this hotel is perfect for those on a tight budget. Many restaurants, such as the Olive Garden, are only a very short distance away. From most rooms in the hotel, you can see the Peabody Hotel or get a great view of Marvel Super Hero Island at Islands of Adventure. All west end rooms have an I-4 and Universal Orlando view. If you find yourself knowing everything about Universal Orlando, remember you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
