Can anyone tell me what the closest grocery store to BC would be? I usually shop at Walmart here at home and am used to the set up and like lots of their brands. Is there a Walmart close, or are there other better choices closer? Thanks for the help:thumbsup2

Ya the Walmart is about a 10 minute drive. 3250 Vineland Rd, Kissimmee, FL 34746

There's a WalMart on SR 535 (previous poster mentioned this store on Vineland, which is also correct) that's maybe 5 miles from Bonnet Creek and should take 10 or 15 minutes to drive. There's also a newer (and much, much nicer, in my opinion) WalMart store on Turkey Lake Road (north of the Downtown Disney area) about 9 miles from Bonnet Creek (about a 15 to 20 minute drive).

The closest grocery store, though, is Goodings at the Crossroads shopping center near Downtown Disney and it's about 3 1/2 miles from the resort, maybe 9 or 10 minute's drive. But this store is ridiculously high priced and doesn't have a particularly broad selection of merchandise. Consequently, I'd suggest that you avoid this store.

A better, close choice would be the Winn Dixie on South Apopka Vineland Road aka/County Road 435. It's roughly 4 miles from the resort, about a 8 to 15 minute drive.

The closest Publix supermarket is on Vineland Avenue (an awful lot of the roads in that general area are known as Vineland Something). It's five or six miles from the resort - an 11 to 18 minute drive depending on the local traffic.

So lots of pretty good choices fairly close at hand.

We always use the Publix! :)

Thanks for the other grocery choices! I will jot these down as well. I shop at Publix when I go to Hilton Head Island, and they are not my favorite. I think they are a bit pricey. I havent seen a Winn Dixie in years. I cant remember how their prices were. Thanks again!

I don't see much about the Winn Dixie. A large majority on here seem to favor Publix or Walmarts. Any Winn Dixie fans here?

While we prefer Publix, primarily because they're just closer to the resorts that we usually stay at, we've used the Winn Dixie when we've stayed at Cypress Pointe Resort and the adjacent Grande Villas Resort. I thought that the prices were relatively low but I have a Winn Dixie loyalty card that gives us their weekly specials pricing. If you decide to use Winn Dixie it's well worth going on their web site to request a card. I also like that Winn Dixie store because it seems like it's just outside of the primary Lake Buena Vista tourist area and it's a lot less crowded to shop there than most of the other area supermarkets - I guess everybody is at Publix.

Great thread, thank you for all the info! Can anyone tell me which of these stores would be the most convenient when traveling directly from the airport to Bonnet Creek? Our flight comes in at 1:30 so by the time we pick up our rental car I figure we should just hit the grocery store and then when we get to WBC our room should undoubtedly be ready.

Most would typically take SR 417 (the route to Orlando from the airport's south exit) to go to Bonnet Creek. None of these stores is right on that route. The Publix at International Drive and Vineland Ave. would require a right turn at the end of the exit ramp (Exit 6 from SR 417) onto International Drive, continue about 2 miles to Vineland Ave, a left turn, the Publix store will be on the right just after you get onto Vineland Ave. The closest WalMart is also about two miles from the end of the Exit 6 ramp. You'd go straight off the exit to the traffic lights at SR 535 and turn left onto SR 535. Continue about a mile and a quarter, WalMart is on the right. If you chose one of those stores the simplest way to Bonnet Creek would be to back-track to the intersection of SR 535 and SR 536 and go onto SR 536 (left turn if coming from WalMart, straight if coming from Publix). Then just follow the Disney signs toward the Epcot Resort Area. That'll take you onto Buena Vista Drive and Bonnet Creek will be just ahead on the left.

Went to their website last week and signed up for their discount card; came today (about 7 day turn around). It won't do me any good in Central NY, but I'll be able to use it in Orlando.

I don't see a card like that For Publix? Most chains have discount cards (Wegmans is big here, Tops, Price Chopper), but Publix (unless I missed it), doesn't offer one?

Just ordered my card online too. Thanks!

I have found, if you get away from the "touristy" areas and shop at a grocery store around more "residential" areas of Kissimmee or Orlando, that the prices are more in line to what they are at home.

Right, Publix does not require a shopper discount card to access their weekly specials.

We liked the Super Target on 192. Not sure how close to WBC, but it's a great place. We were there several times picking things up because it was just down the road from WH.
