Closest and most convenient hotel to Disneyland - Not Disney-owned

I stayed at the Sheraton Anaheim Resort back in February for a work conference (I added a Disneyland day on the end, of course!), and it was quite nice. The walk to the park entrances was pleasant, and the pool/hot tub area were garden-like. It was about a 15 minute walk.

Can we uber from the Westin or Jw if we don’t want to walk or take ART?

Uber/Lyft for sure, not sure about ART, but I would assume somewhere near yes. (maybe someone else knows exactly where to pick it up)
No that works. I meant if we don’t want to take ART or walk. Does Uber drop you off in front of downtown Disney?

The official rideshare drop off is on the other side, on Harbor, about a 1-2 minute walk to security.

You could get dropped at Pixar Pier or Disneyland Hotel I guess and enter that way to get into DTD.
Yep, this. Uber/Lyft can/will take you to either side. Both will be a short walk to security… just depends if you want downtown Disney or go straight into parks.

Staying at the JW Marriott next week (could not stomach the high prices this time around for DLH or GCH). My first time staying off property.

It was recommended that we go to the Toy Story lot / go through security there in the am to go to/from the parks? Where does this shuttle drop us off?

I’m not sure if you can walk right in the employee side. We’ve always entered from Harbor. The drop off is by the Harbor entrance.

New (last 5ish years) hotels about 10 minute walk:
Home2Suites/Hilton Garden Inn
Clementine
Cambria
Element
JW Marriott
Spring Hill suites convention
Residence inn convention
The Westin
Courtyard Marriott theme park entrance
Hyatt house
Suncoast

Seriously, skip all the motels suggested. I’m fine with a newer 3* hotel, but all of the motels are too noisy for me. Comparing the motels to DLR hotels will leave the OP frustrated IMO. Unfortunately homewood suites convention was getting dated when we stayed there 2 years ago.

You can walk in from the Katella side to Toy Story lot. We just did that a ton of times in June when staying at the worldmark Wyndham (next block down from JW). Super convenient. Security is only at Toy Story in the mornings until 11am. JW is a lovely hotel. Have a fun trip!

Yes, you can enter from Katella to get to the Toy Story shuttles. Have done this many, many times!

are any of these pretty much right across the street? I'd consider the Hojo as far away as I'd like to stay

We could see the gate and metal detector by Starbucks from our room at the grand. But it wasn’t open to use when we were staying and I could not figure out why! Good to know they do use it sometimes. I wonder why it isn’t open all of the time? Seems like to would really help with the morning crowds.
Hi Crystal!

We just got back from 4 nights at the GCH yesterday. One morning, the EE line was getting very long, almost back to the second metal detector. I could see security guards milling around down there by the second metal detector, but they were not forming a line. Security opened at 7am on the dot for the regular line. Then right at about 7:05 am, they opened the other line and detector up. Two of us jumped into that new line, and the rest stayed in the regular line since we had already moved up about 50% of that line by then. The regular line ended up winning because they had 3 bag checkers and two metal detectors going. The other line only had one of each, and the bag check person was VERY slow. But you never know. We have had that same thing happen in October, and we were through the new line in a jiffy.

The next time we tried to use the extra security line, they never opened it (2 days later). They were setting up a breakfast event in the courtyard, so the regular security line was threaded back into the hotel near the conference rooms. I don't know if they only had the main one open due to the breakfast event and not wanting people out there or what.

The shuttle drops you off at the bus circle on the Harbor side. It is faster to walk to the park entrance but slightly less walking to take the Toy Story shuttle. I personally would not choose to take the Toy Story shuttle, but I eat breakfast in the hotel restaurant which makes exiting the hotel from the garden into GardenWalk much faster. If you plan to buy Starbucks downstairs as breakfast, then the Toy Story shuttle route can make a little more sense but is still slower from my experience.

Thank you for this feedback. Honestly this walk seems closer than what we did at Disneyland Paris when we stayed on property.

My only concern is security lines in the am: we are rope drop people - especially since we don't have EMH
