Closest Airport to Disney/Vero Beach (IL travelers)??

We like flying into Sanford from Rockford because we can avoid the Ohare/midway/MCO hassles. It looks like we'd do that even though it's a 2 hour drive to VB, right? We would be renting anyway to get around VB. Am I on the right path with this

Melbourne Intl. is closer to Vero and not that much further to Disney than Sanford. Try a fare search into MLB.

Travel times from selected airport's below to Vero Beach...

Sanford-2 hours
MCO- 1 hr 20 minutes
PBI(West Palm)- 1 hr 20 minutes
Melbourne-45 minutes

We always fly out of Orlando(MCO) because of the cheaper and most non-stop flights for Southwest. Melbourne will be the most expensive,with the least selection of flights.

Dzneelvr, you're definitely on the correct path. You should be able to get a good fare on that route and the 2-hr drive to Vero is a very simple drive. Car rentals are easy at Sanford. Then head south on TOLL 417 (Seminole Expressway/Central Florida Greeneway), east on TOLL 528 (Beachline Expressway (formerly Beeline Expy)) and south on I-95.

As previously mentioned, airfares to Melbourne are usually high; ditto West Palm Beach. Plus with those cities, you could not fly out of Rockford.
