When do you think I'll be in the DVC system? We're so anxious to make a reservation! Thanks!

We just closed 3 contracts. The first one and two closed the same day. Contract one points were available 5 days later, contract two points took over a week. Contract three closed last week and we had the points in our account the next day. Hard to say why 3 contracts took such varying time to have the points available!

When do you know closing is finished. I sent the contracts in last Monday....got copies of those contracts with DVC signatures in the mail today.....??

Good question.

Assuming you purchased from Disney rather than resale: they don't bother telling you when you have closed.

You can do two things:

a) Go to the Orange County Comptroller website and see if your deed has been recorded.
http://www.occompt.com/
click on "Records Search" on the right.
You are looking for your name as Grantee.
This won't tell you when you closed, but obviously if the deed was recorded, you have closed.

b) Call Member Administration and ask them if you have closed.
800-********
I believe you then press 2
They are open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern time

Member Administration told me that after the deed is recorded, it is sent back to Disney. Disney then issues a title policy and sends it to you with the deed. It can take several weeks.

I FedExed my paperwork back to Disney on 08/31, closing was on 09/10, deed was recorded on 09/16. I have not received the deed as of today (09/21). Labor Day fell in the middle of all this.

You would think that they would at least send you a postcard letting you know that the transaction closed - but no.

I can't believe they blacked out the phone number.

It's the same toll-free number you would use the make a DVC reservation, if that helps.

It's not a number for public use so it's against DIS policy to publish it.

When did you start calling Member Services to see if you were in the system?

Hi, I just wondered why so many members post wanting to know when they closed? What is closing and what difference does it make?

My wife and I put our downpayment down tonight. Just waiting for the paper work now. YAY!

When did you start calling Member Services to see if you were in the system?

I waited 5 days with the first two contracts, they said to wait 7. The third contract just showed up in my account at DVCmember.com.

We closed last Tuesday (bought through TSS). Saturday morning we received an email from Disney with a "One time access code" to get onto DVC member website. I called member services and they gave me membership #, and I got right onto the site! :rotfl:

We closed 9/10 - I waited for the welcome email but by the 20th I couldn't take it any longer :rolleyes1 and called member services. We were in their system and they gave me my codes etc to activate online and we were able to make a reservation for May 2010 :cool1:

When you say you closed, does that mean you sent your $$ and signed papers to the closing company or did you receive notification after this that everything was closed? We sent our $$ and paperwork in and it was received at the end of last week and I'm just wondering, now what?? We are already members so this new contract should just be added under our membership number. Wondering what to look for next. TIA.

Congratulations and :welcome:Home!

We had received our closing docs on the 4th - sent back same day(not that we were in a hurry or anything;)) on the 10th we received an email from TSS saying our file had closed.

It seems that the word closed is sometimes miss understood and miss used.

If you are buying resale, your file must be "closed", contracts completed, money distributed, recording info sent to the county clerk and Disney notified.

After Disney is notified, they have several steps that need to be completed to establish the membership. The account is set up by one team and another team loads the points into the account. This step can take several days after Escrow says that you are closed. When it is complete, the new owner can access their account and make a reservation. Sometimes they are notified by Disney, but usually they are not. That's why new owners should call a few days after they close.

Weeks later the filed county recording and title policy is mailed to the new owner.

If you purchased resale then it typically takes about 5 to 7 days from closing until you are in the Disney system.

Sometimes the process is a little quicker and sometimes slightly longer.

We closed on Monday 9/21/09, we were in the system 9/23, and our points were in there today 9/24/09. We made our first reservation. We actually GOT Christmas 12/23-12/26. SSR studio. Good luck to everyone else still waiting!
