Great question! No, to receive a point transfer you do not need to have the same use year, or even the same home resort - you just need to be a DVC member and keep in mind that you can only have one transfer, either in or out, per use year per year.

You can bank transferred points but cannot borrow, correct? Thinking out loud I think I need 2021 points that I can bank and use in September 2022. Wanting Sat. Sept 3 at Hilton Head at 44 points (1 BR) and I can waitlist the rest of the weekend with points I have.

Yes, you are 100% correct - transferred points can be banked but not borrowed. I can however book 9/3 for you as a rental, if interested.

Thank you for your inquiry! With Aulani points I can only book the other DVC resorts up to 7 months in advance, to make a reservation at Polynesian for January you would need to find a DVC owner with Polynesian points.

Thank you for your inquiry. With Aulani points, unfortunately, I can only book other DVC resorts up to 7 months in advance, for a stay in November at Animal Kingdom you would need to find an owner with AKL points.
