Can you please post some more pics of the donald outfit.

Tom posted photos before he left. It is the simply sweet pattern (CarlaC on youcanmakethis.com), but he modified it by adding the pinwheel blocks to the skirt piece. He has it in our photobucket account (cause he's soo good like that) As you can see it's not a "donald outfit" but has all the characters on it. Great fabric huh? He has a different pattern for the underdress-

He also has a petti for her under it- so the fullness comes from that too.

that dress is waaayyyy cute

I mostly lurk, but wanted to share my accomplishment today with those who may understand my giddiness. My husband was kind enough to grant me what we've termed a "Mommy vacation" day. Mommy's in the house but...:cool2: unavailable.

I spent a good portion of the day making my oldest daughter's valentine dress and adding to it...my FIRST applique.

DSC00701.jpg

I'm so happy with how it turned out. :cool1: I was SO nervous, but followed Heather's tutorial :thanks: It was so helpful!!

I was also afraid  I had planned to make a few too many changes to Carla C's stripwork jumper, seeing as I am in no means an accomplished seamstress like so many of you.

DSC00714.jpg

But I love  how it turned out, just like I pictured it in my head.

Thanks for letting me share!

OOOOOOH, great job on the applique! I love the jumper!

Guess What!!!!

Heather just called!!!

YEAH!!

About Time!!!
They are having lots of fun!! They froze their patooties off the other day at Animal Kingdom though! Apparently Sawyer has falledn in love with one of the Tink fairies (Rosetta??? sorry, I don't know their names!) Tessa HATE HATE HATES! Tower of Terror (but is VERY exciting about meeting Luke tonight!) and Sawyer gets car sick in fake cars even! Mom just sounded happy. :goodvibes (a week without my Grandma must be good for her!)

It was so good to hear from them! :grouphug:

I think she said they were at Epcot in the World Showcase.

Of course, now I'm REALLY missing them!

I am happy they are having a great time. I agree with the Hollywood Tower of Terror. My entire family said it was really fun and not too scary. YEAH RIGHT. I thought I was going to come out of the seat and die. The picture at the end showed me hanging on to DH for dear life. Yeah, never again will I go on to TOT.

OT because I didn't make DD's dress, but I wanted to share a few pics anyway. We were on the waiting list for a ticket to the Daddy Daughter Dance and I found out about 5pm the night before the dance. I opted to save myself some stress and buy a dress. However, I did get it at a steal. It was on the clearance rack for $11. The only thing I made was the updo :)

Here is my beautiful little 6yr old all grown up.

So cute and they make such a cute couple! Good idea about the stress free dress. Kadie had a daddy daughter dance last weekend. We bought such pretty, bright pink with sparkles fabric and I went to help make it for her. Sigh, we used the CarlaC simply sweet dress, but did a few modifications. Made little gathered straps and then a really cute overskirt. All we had left to finish was adding the underskirt. She was looking at it so excited so I said do you want to try it on? She was jumping up and down she was so excited. We put it over her head, and it would NOT go over her ears???? :sad1: We had to take the straps off and replace them with just plain straps and we really didn't have time to redo the amount that needed to be taken out and resewn. After some thought, we decided to use it next dance and she ended up wearing a black leotard and a black petti with a white flower on the top and pretty jewelry. They had a great time at the dance!!!

Tom did say that he used a sheet for the dress and the squares were from the YCMT quilt tutorial on their blog.

I love love love the VHC fabric. :) This is my daughter from her first day of PreK last year. I managed to buy enough extra fabric to do some spring outfits for the girls this year. I found mine by google search but it was a year ago.

So pretty!!! What a great deal on the dress too!

I hope this is ok to post.

I searched on yahoo and found her directions for sizing up and down here.

http://disboutique.blogspot.com/

Hey, you yahooed me! ;) I have a link to it in the bookmarks too.

Im back on page 169, but I just got back from my trip to my parents-I even took a couple pics I can share.
The good news is, I was able to push myself and managed to make several things for them- split pea w. ham soup is now in their freezer, Mexi-Chicken is in their frig (bought them a crock pot as an early Valentine's gift) and made baked cod last night for them. I changed sheets on their beds and my Mom said my Father perked up a lot when Megan came to visit.
The bad news is the cyphplasty surgery was cancelled because the Drs have changed their minds and feel it will be of no help. Some new test results came in on Friday and they now know, not only is the cancer in his lymph nodes, but its in his bones. They are planning to begin radiation within another week that will go everyday for the next 12 weeks. In addition to the hormone treatments.
I have a sinus headache.
But with DH gone all week, we all need at least dinner out, so we are going to a local Japanese Steak house for dinner.
I finish my Feliz and Ill be back to comment on whats between 169 and this page Im writing on.

That turned out really cute! Great job!

Going off to Myrtle Beach for 2 days with dh and the kiddos! See everyone soon!:cool1: :cool1:

Have fun!!!

Wendy, what WalMart did you go to? I hit the Pennsville NJ Walmart today, only to find their fabric 50% off and a sign saying that May 20 would be the day that the fabric dept would turn into the "Celebration Center".:sad2: I got about 40 yards of fabric. :crazy2: My husband has not seen it yet. Got several yards each of LPS, tink, tweety bird, spongebob, mickey, blue princesses, a pink paisley, bright flowers, and the list goes on and on. I think I will hit the Walmart again this week, try to get more solids. Hopefully it will last.

Yes, that is the one!! I did go back tonight and got about $100 of stuff - but hey, its really worth double that!!! they had lots of good stuff, didnt they? They were out of the blue princess tonight, but fortunately I had gotten some last night - lol!! I also stocked up on their solids for ruffles and stuff. Im going back later this week to see if its even more deeply discounted. When they got rid of the fabric for the celebration station at walmart I was so bummed!! there is NEVER anyone in that section!!!!!!! frustrating - i also felt so badly for the lady cutting the fabric - she was so sweet and said she had been involved in some type of fabric, clothing industry for the past 41 years!! Her hands were kinda bent at the fingers from spending so much time in the scissors - I hope she gets to keep her job......she was so sweet!

I got done with my BIG GIVE outfits and now that I can sew for Jenna for summer I have a sewing block. I can't think of a thing to make with all of the fabric that I bought for her Summer clothes. Please help me with some ideas.

Hi Guys!

I somehow managed to read 5 pages and no one in my family has made a peep this morning yet.

I love all the fabric pictures posted. I am quite jealous of the VHC and would love to see the Brown Bear!

We had a GREAT day yesterday! We ran into Cindee, Morgan and her husband in tomorrowland. Dallas and Morgan hit it off and were holding hands skipping around! They rode the TTA together and then we headed to the flag pole for a mini meet a bit early. Tom and Leighanna then came over to say hello and the kids played eye spy and tag for quite a while! Oh, BTW, Morgan's skirt that she picked the fabrics for was darling! And she the cutest matching shirt that just happen to match. And Leighanna had on her princess feliz, wow! what a beauty is all I can say!

Then up comes Kristine and Stacy, they happen to notice the kids! Good eyes! They had to run off to eat but caught up with us later on to watch Wishes. And then we see Steph with kids in tow under the flagpole, so Jacob and Megan joined in the fun and games. By then Cathy (or it with a K) called and was looking for us, so I paraded the kids around hoping she would see us, she didn't because we didn't walk far enough, but ended up finding us just a few minutes later. And we all watched the parade together. Headed up the street to see Wishes and then Kristine and Stacy came back. After that Dallas was having a great time riding rides with his new best friends Kristine and Stacy!

There are a couple who we didn't see and hopefully we didn't miss them (hard to know what someone looks like, especially with no kids in tow!). But we'll them today!

Rumor is that Heather and Jeanne were whooping it up at Downtown Disney! Hopefully Tessa kissed Luke and Jeanne got a birthday shirt!!! :cheer2:

So, anyone who has a chance to meet up with others, definately do it! I had the best evening and think Dallas did too!

Back to regular sewing now!

Just wanted to share my Big Give shirt...I was so nervous with this...this is the first clothing I have made for anyone outside my family. I really stressed over it...but it's done! i am happy with the results.

th_P2020305.jpg

Thanks for looking!:goodvibes
That is really cute! Kyle would LOVE it it has Luigi right in front ad has yellow !

Well, I just finished packing (still have that hoodie to put finish) and we are leaving from the soccer fields tomorrow straight for Disney! I think my husband is a little sad because he can't come with us. But he got to take Megan to the Father/Daughter dance tonight, so it's ok!

Thanks to everyone who commented when I first posted the dress. I cut three inches off the black fake-leather and I think it turned out cute. I used Carla's potrait peasant for the bodice and the costume pattern for the skirt. Megan did not like the hat and probably took it off at the first opportunity. I can't wait until they get home so I can hear all about it.

th_IMG_1124.jpg

Have a great weekend everyone!
What a cute picture! i hope they had fun. Say HI to every one at the meet! Have a blast!

I've been in lurking mode for awhile (sorry!) as my sewing machine was "under the weather" for a good half a year. Finally got it all worked out though. I've sewn a few things since my DD's dozen bakers hats from her birthday party.

Anyway, I wanted to share my mom's birthday gift. I wasn't sure how this would turn out, so I made a prototype for my kiddos AG dolls (forgot to take a pic of that!) and then crossed my fingers and gave it a shot in human size!

(my photographer is six, so please bear with the photos!)
th_apron-1.jpg
Very cute! I love that fabric. your photographer did a great job too!

We're back and all settled in. Everything went very well. I got to hold her while they put her to sleep. They put in the IV while she was sleeping. There was no crying from either of us. There was a mom and grandma who came out of the putting the kids to sleep room who were quite upset. I got a little worried as they went before us. But I held her and dh watched, I think if I had watched it would have been more difficult. She has been a good patient very sleepy, she is feeling pretty good now. She didn't even get sick from the anesthetic. She is painting at the table right now. :artist:

Thanks so much for all your prayers and positive thoughts for us.
Glad everything went well and she is home! How is she feeling today?

We are having a great time here at WDW.
Reporting to you Live from WDW!

Looking forward to meeting some of you tomorrow and Sunday!

Here are a couple of photos.

Donald loved this dress and danced around the restaurant with Leighanna
DSCF0036.jpg

The CM's at Tony's loved Leighanna's dress. They surprised her by giving her a stuffed Tramp and a set of Lady and the Tramp pins!
th_DSCF0029-1.jpg

It has finally begun to warm up! Now only needing a jacket or coat early in the morning or late at night!

We have dinner tomorrow with the princesses! Leighanna is looking forward to it!

Great stuff posted, I just skimmed, but have seen some great stuff!
Why do little kids at WDW all happy with the characters just make me tear up?!?!? I am such a loser! LOL
She looks adorable in the pictures! I am so glad she is having a great time!

mommyof2princesses-Great finds! i love that pink ad Green! Oh and those pinks with brown too! Well it is all great!

And, I keep scrolling down and see SOOO many pretty fabrics!!! I love the black with the red!!! They are all gorgeous!! And, you did great getting all that for $100!!! Good shopping!!! Now does anyone know if there is a cool place like that around Michigan??? Heck, I'd drive to Illinois, Ohio or Indiana for cool fabric like that!
Oh if you find one in IL I will meet you! I asked my brother to ask his friends if they know of anyplace in the city. His good friend designs textiles problem is they are VERY $$$$ textiles. I said I need a place for Cheap stuff! LOL
:grouphug: Hey GUys,

I really need help with fabric choices....

Here are the fabrics I have - the Michael Miller Dot one I only have a 1/4 yard or so, everything else I have plenty of - I want to make the whole back flannel (choices on the far right)...I know I want a lot of the pink/green, green/pink dots (maybe the small squares) but then for the big squares what should I do? Paisley? paisley and a few michel miller? Or, what about the big dot (that is the fabric that isnt cotton, but does fray - its like a drapery type material I got stuck with cause I got it on ebay(thinking it was cotton).....

Choices??/
th_100_0686.jpg

Im going to start cutting the middle of the sandwich - then i'll check in with my buddies!!!
I love them all! that is one of my fav color combos! I don't think you could really go wrong with any of those.

I've been following, but mostly window shopping as I had a cruise planned and sadly enough only 1 day at Disney. We're back and hubby has agreed to a mother/daughter trip this fall. My daughter is already all excited about planning her outfits. She will be almost 10 when we go and it will be for her golden birthday. I've been looking on YCMT for patterns and was wondering what you guys suggest for a tween. She wears a size 10 plus in pants and 12/14 in shirts. Has anyone had success with patterns other than Carla's? I was looking at the criss cross pattern, round neck top and possibly the aline. How hard is it to adjust Carla's patterns for bigger sizes? The aline only goes up to a size 8- 27" chest and DD is a 29/30 chest. Thanks for helping and hopefully will have pics soon to show for our mother/daughter trip. I'm an excessive planner and will have them done inplently of time before!!! I will, I will, I will...
I am glad some one posted the upsizing info for you!
i have made the round neck for my dd9 and I love it. It is posted a few pages back. Also what about a patchwork twirl? Or a strip work skirt?

I couldn't be happier for you!!!!!!

Good morning. Since I live in a fairly isolated city in Northern Ontario we only have one fabric store locally and it does not carry any liscensed stuff. Anyway. I will be in Florida for a bit in March, more specifically, 6 nights in St. Pete's and then 4 at Universal. I plan on budgetting a bit of cash for material while I am down there. Anyone know of any great fabric places in the area? Mom and I would appreciate it very much.
