Okay, enough lurking on part. I have read 100's of your postings and thought it was time to say "hi." I love, love, everything you guys do! How do you do so much sewing and posting? You guys move fast!

I do a lot of sewing and my girls are clammering for me to make outfits like the ones they see posted here. Guess I need to get going before they are too old to wear them!

I do have a bunch of questions for you guys but I'll start with one. I really want a ruffler for my Bernina. I saw that someone said they ordered theirs on e-bay. They appear to be similiar to Bernina's and in the $20-30 range. Is this a good deal and do you guys use rufflers enough to warrent the purchase?

Can you use a slant foot? I've got one I used on my old Singer, i've been trying to pass along to someone.

Hi all

Okay first and foremost...I went nuts at JoAnn's today. The poor woman looked at me and said "please tell me that you are just adding to your stash and not actually MAKING something with all these!"

And the 2nd thing I need Big Give help!

I went to 4 stores today and can not find a short sleeved 2T tshirt to make the family shirts for the Macintosh Big Give. Does anyone have any suggestions? Apparently in MA, we arent' ready yet for short-sleeves so nobody is carrying them. None of the craft stores, WalMart or Target had them. Any other thoughts????

I got a yard of the Pirate for $2. Looks like they must have missed a markdown. The other Disprints, we didn't have. I think I've seen the HSM at Walmart tho'. I'm going to have to get some of that for something.

Hey, we have Peter Pan peanut butter here now. It's all over our stores here in Dallas.
We have Peter Pan here too. In fact, I have a 6 pound jar of it in my cupboard as we speak (or as I type, whichever). I mis-read and had to go back and check out the recall to make sure Peter Pan wasn't recalled, thank goodness it wasn't, my kids live on Peter Pan!

So is it bad to have 2 outfits a day planned for Disneyland? We are going to DL for 4 days and I think I am going to do between 6 and 8 outfits for the DL portion of our trip. Then I have a zoo outfit, and acquarium outfit and a Snoopy outfit (for Knottsberry farm). I think I am going to be doing a lot of sewing over the next few months.
I'm planning on making/taking 2 outfits a day for our DW trip, so I think it's totally reasonable. Either the outfits get dirty or we all are hot and sweaty and gross and just need a new outfit!

There is!!!! There is a phone number you can call and give them some info and they can tell you. I will see if I can find the number.

From the ticket Stikee-
F. How can I Check on What Remains on Old Tickets?

Any Ticket Window or Guest Services Location can read your old tickets and tell what the remaining entitlements are. Also, if the ticket has become demagnetized they can issue replacements. The Resort Lobby Concierges may not be able to read all tickets.

See Post #13 in this thread for how to determine the serial number of the ticket(s)

There is a special phone number, 407-566-4985 which you can all. Press "Option 2" when prompted. The CM on duty will be able to assist you. This line is only available weekdays during normal business hours.

Cindee, I was really really hoping you would comment on this!! I figured if anyone out there knew if there was a way YOU would!! :thumbsup2 Thank you!!! This will greatly help my planning! When did they start doing this?

We will have to try to get together this year! It is frustrating that you can't call someone at WDW with your pass numbers and find out how many days you have left. This May trip will be just me and Joe (8 years). We are staying at AKL. I haven't planned out my days yet. I do know that I want to eat breakfast at CP & dinner at California Grill on the 6th for my birthday but haven't planned much beyond that.
We need to meet up! If only for a quick hello if nothing else! We fly into Ft. Lauderdale, so we will be in Orlando sometime on the 6th.

Yes, I was in Houston on business, and we drove down to Houston to see what things looked like post storm. We had been there several times for cruises. My inlaws live in Austin. Whew, boats in the middle of parking lots!! But, spirits seemed good! They did a great job with what they had with the lights. it was kinda weird how dark the island was in spots. Im amazed that somethings looked untouched, whilte others were just wiped away. We love the rainforest too!! Have you ever done the ride there???

Is anyone one who could help me guess what size simply sweet for my cousins little girl???? I dont have a chest measurement - but her waist is 17".......she is between 6-9 months old I think????
When I am trying to figure out sizes, i sometimes use this chart from the bookmarks: http://www.fibergypsy.com/common/children.shtml There are other Garment Size Charts in the bookmarks too.

I found a really cute black HSM tee-shirt with a hotpink HSM design and heart on it. So I got that and then went to Joann's and found some gorgeous black with hot pink polka dot material to make a flouncy skirt with.

I am loving all the stuff I've seen lately. Some of it is really amazing.

The Big Give outfit for Avy sounds so cute!!!

And, two outfits a day sounds perfectly reasonable to me!!
And the fight is on! :rotfl2: I wish we were going to be there! Can you imagine all of the comments there will be when they see all of these kiddos in their customs? You'll all be lucky if you can walk through the park without being stopped!
 Maybe you guys who are going should have a little fashion show while you are there!!! Everyone make sure to take lots and lots of pictures!!!

OOPS! I meant to say that All of the dismeet kids will be the best dressed at Disney World! :flower3:
It's just that seeing that too cute outfit that Jeanne posted temporarily made me lose my mind! :goodvibes

What? :snooty:

Attikus is doing a little better today. He is still running a temp, around 102. Which is alot better from yesterday. He did sleep better last night and is taking some bottles. But it looks like another day of temp.

Thank you all for asking. This virus is sad, I can't imasgine running a temp this long.

I remember when Sawyer was sick, he had a fever for a really long time and when Heather took him in he ended up having an ear infection. So if it continues for longer than a week, I would take him in anyway. You never know!

Has anyone used a fabric glue? Say, if a hypothetical seam had an 'issue' you wanted to cover up with ribbon?

I use fabric glue all the time, especially when I was first starting out. I have never had any issues with it and it holds well.

YAY FOR MEGAN!!!!! Im so happy your handwriting has improved so much!!! I'd love to see how good it is now! Does it seem easier for you to do? Im very proud of you!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Okay - situation that I need help with...okay -one of the people who came 2 years ago as a nurse with us came this morning to help saying she wants to come back this year. Now, 2 years ago (and 3 years ago) she brought her then 16 year old daughter with her. Now I always am looking at the best in people, especially when they are helping others, and I fought for this teen to come again the 2nd year they came (but she blew it on me)...but, unfortunately, she really has some issues of defiance, disobedience, stirring the pot, creating issues, drama queen, not following directions (and leading others, including my Rebekah, to not follow directions as well). She would do stupid things like wear a bikini under her swim suit (in defiance of the rules - but seriously, she looked really stupid), not show up on time for duties, disobey her work crew leader (even made the leader cry - she was an older teen)....things got so bad at one point that the camp director had to speak to her (we were so embarassed that it got that far) and in general they asked that she not come back....so, her mom says to me today that she wants her teen to come (now 18) to babysit her 2 year old for her while she is on nurse duties.....GUYS, What would you do??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????:confused3 I am all about giving chances, but this is a situation that could ruin the 2 weeks of came (yes, it was that bad)......please help me think this all through, Im bound to see them in church tomorrow.....:scared:

I'll have to take pictures tomorrow in the light of the befores and afters. It is really dramatic. Her writing still isn't perfect, but looks much more like her peers', which is what I was hoping for.

I used to work for a church that did summer camp and used high school kids for junior counselors and we always had to ask a couple to leave and not come back. It is hard but necessary. It's a good lesson for the teenagers too.

Becky, I can not think of a more troublesome mix of dogs!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

HEY! :snooty:

Hello. Still mostly a lurker but I have finished 2.5 outfits for our trip in March. :cheer2: One still needs a top to go with the skirt that is why it is half done. I will post pictures as soon as I get my model in her new clothes. Anyway, my question involves non-sewn applique. I used the ultra bond or whatever it is called to put the applique on the dress. Do I still need to treat the edges or will it make it in the wash? Can I use something like fray check or does it have to be fabric paint? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Robyn

I have used fabric paint but I bet fray check would work too. You could also do a "rustic applique" where you sew a straight stitch just to the inside of the applique and let it fray naturally.

I have been working on a diaper bag for a friend from a commercial pattern and it is taking me forever! I can't wait to be finished so I can start on something else!

OT: Penney's is having a great big sale. I got a sweater dress and HSM long sleeved t-shirt, each for a $1.70!

Peter Pan was recalled last year for the same reason as the Keebler/Austin stuff. I am sure that the recall is over, but the stores around here haven't started carrying it again. They also aren't carrying Austex chilli anymore since their recall.

Kristine-I love your new stash:thumbsup2

So DH and I decided to do some pricing and we found out that with the 40% discount that Disney emailed me we will be able to afford a trip to WDW. We are thinking about going the week of Oct. 25-31. That means that we would get to see WDW at Halloween. I think that we are going to keep this one a secret from Jenna until we absolutely have to tell her.

Cindee, I was really really hoping you would comment on this!! I figured if anyone out there knew if there was a way YOU would!! :thumbsup2 Thank you!!! This will greatly help my planning! When did they start doing this?

"Unoffically" they have done if for awhile. "Offically" I think they started telling people they do this about a year ago. As with most things with Disney, the answer is only "no" until you find a person to say "yes". :joker:

Here is Nik's vday outfit. I am not happy with the shirt:confused3 Though i was able to use Carla's updated elongated patter::yes::

I did just realize with my new machine I need to switch to our vista program on out mac! UGH! what a pain oh well. George just needs to show me how to do that!
Very pretty!
Since school was cancelled, Leighanna wanted to do a photo shoot with the outfits I have done so far. I still have a few more planned, I just don't know if I will have enough time.

I have shared a couple of those before, but I think they look cuter on!
I love them! I really love the hanging heart on the Minnie dress!
Get ready for TOO MUCH LILYS!

So I bought the Feliz pattern months ago thinking I would use it to make Lily's Valentine's/Chef Mickey's dress. Cut to yesterday where I realize I don't have time to learn a new pattern, especially one I'm askeered of! So I cheated and made a Vida with ruffles.

I had to bribe Lily to model by letting her take her babies outside for a walk. And yes, her hair is wet :snooty:

I should've outlined the gloves with black.

Beautiful girl and I love that dress! Those mountains are gorgeous!
Hi Guys,

We have our first fundraiser for our Camp Promise Trip at church tomorrow am - since we have the nice chef's hat pattern now, I decided to make a fun one for DH, and then decided to do an apron to match!! He seemed to like it! Its a pancake breakfast, and DH is in charge of the omlettes!!

What do ya think????
I love the apron and hat! Yummmy Omlettes !!

Yes, I have to admit, I LOVE TOYS!! Can you believe we dont even have any kids!!!!!!!!! Some of my favorites that I usually keep at work but we've had kids over alot lately - they are the Fisher Price Snap and Style Dolls, and the other is called Motor Blocks - the kids cant get enough of them - they build really cool airplanes, choo choo's , race cars etc!!!

And just because she has been my puppy fuzz for 10 years now and turned 11 years old today (just a guess = we got her at the SPCA) here is Zoey enjoying her birthday cupcake!!!

Happy birthday Zoe!! She is so cute. I have that little Disney Pillow on the chair behind you. I love it!
Love it! I want to make Hubby a hat with pepper fabric and yours is just what I hope it would look like :) Great Job!
What fun.

You guys have posted a bunch of beautiful stuff today.
I have been lurking this week, mostly. I have strep and I am not getting over it as fast as I would like. Apparently its much harder for me to just "rest" than it used to be..... could be the super cute 5 and 2 year old who just want play ;)
I hope you feel better soon. Strep is no fun. If you don't feel better you may need a different antibiotic.

I started buying Peter Pan after they started selling it again and DH said why did you buy that stuff?? I said it's probably from the cleanest peanut butter factory in the state Georgia! (they make it here)

Sounds like fun. I want to go in October we have never been to MNSSHP.

This is absolutely adorable!!! I not a fan of the Feliz (And truth be told rarely like the Vida) but this is adorable, and I may have to break down and get the Vida pattern. I've seen a handful of Vida's lately that I love - this is definately one of the few!!

TOM.......... on the Tinkerbell feliz dress you made for Leighann, do you remember who made the black fabric and what it was called?? I'm thinkin' that would make one pretty quilt!

I can help if you still need some. I just bought some for my little one at WalMart and Target. That California sunshine :beach: :beach: brings those short sleeves out sooner here but darn it if we can ever find snow gear. Feel free to send me a PM if you want some help.~Babs

LOL! I asked him the same thing. It's Michael Miller Boho Blossom. I LOVE it!!!!

In between doing report cards, lesson plans, and a weekly report to parents on each of my kiddos--I made a skirt and blouse for Giuliana to wear for the Hoe Down our school will have on Feb. 13th (I know, what were they thinking....an event on Friday the 13th!;) )

Anyway, I used 11 different Giddy-up kids prints that a friend of mine had used to make a quilt for her grandson. (She actually used 15 different materials, but I thought that was just a little too much :lmao: )

Here it is:
2617103830067077547S500x500Q85.jpg

I did something different and attached a petti to it where the first row of squares join the waist band. For square dancing, you want lots of fluff!

I wish she had had fewer materials and more of each one....but she sold me the squares for $5.00 (and it was worth that to not have to cut it out!...plus she had almost a 1/2 yard of the stripe that I used for the waist, ruffle and applique that she "just threw in."

This is awesome!! I love the colors. How fun for a hoe down!! And I am always up for a good twirl. what did you do for the shirt?? I was trying to make it out but I think I have killed my vision by hanging on here so much:eek:
