Re: Sleeping Beauty/Aurora pattern....I have Simplicity's 5835 also. I agree on using the stiffest interfacing you can find for the collar.

The nice thing about that pattern is it also has Tink and Belle on it. Haven't done them yet, though.:confused3 I did use Tink's bodice for a sundress last summer for one of the girls though!:rotfl2:

They have a companion one too, 5832, that has Ariel, Snow White, and Cinderella in it. The only one I've done from it is Snow White's...it needs a really stiff interfacing for the collar too. I went velcro crazy on it, and made the stand-up collar removeable for comfort's sake....

Thanks for all the compliments on the pjs....I need to get my tush in gear again...we're taking the Snow White and Aurora dresses with us to Disney (for BBB)...don't know if they want others, or not? I LOVE the working dresses idea!

Oh, and I use my presser feet for guides too! Always have! I use my quilting one for 1/4" and my regular one for 1/2"!

Talk about needing to catch up. I am so many pages behind I don't know if I should go back or just start new?

I did see a very cute quilt! Pretty dresses and costumes! It all looks wonderful.

I got the big give outfits off and then almost finished a sundress. I am still working on it as I can't figure out how to get the bodice lining sewn down other than to slipstitch the entire waistline. I just don't want to do that.

I did get a bunch of very cute fabric in the city but can't find the camera...again.

Also, We have cancelled our trip to WDW for Sept:cheer2: Because I said I wanted to go to France instead and DH said ok.

I hope everyone is staying healthy and warm.

Wow you ladies are talkitive today. The pages are flying. It took me a little bit to catch up. I love all the pictures!! Thank you for posting them. They are truly inspirational and I can't wait to get started on my girls' outfits. I love the working dress idea...how precious! The princess gown...WOW! The quilts...my hat's off to you. Jolly Holiday...how special is that? To be in the CM mag is awesome. I love that everyone's version is just different enough to be unique yet all so very pretty. I am still over here sorting patterns and matching up fabrics. I am feeling a little behind.

The rest are DD2 sets to match DD4. DD2 was in a very corporative mood today. That is not the norm. Do you notice that DD2 is wearing ballet slippers? The only time I can get them off her feet is when it is bath time!

I hope that was not too many pictures! I am keeping a photo journal of my trip sewing projects.

These are fabulous! Beautiful girls!

This is the one that I made my dd last year. I used Simplicity 9384.
th_IMG_4553.jpg

Oh dear, better not let DD5 see this!! It's lovely and she would love it. Unfortunately, it exceeds my skill level considerably!!

Oh and I lost the quilt and Mary Poppins photos!
Well, I loved them!

Chef Hat Makers,,,,

I am making a chef hat for a little boy with Down Syndrome that I see at work and I need to make sure the cuff part goes the right direction!! How can I tell what way will be up - lol - I 've only made one, and it didnt matter with that fabric.....i know one side has notches in it - so does the notched side go up or down or?????:confused3

THanks for the reassurance on Emily's valentine dress....I think I'll go ahead and give it to them and see what happens after that!

Now, when I get home, I need to tackle the round neck dress for Hannah I was messing up on last night - lol - you should have seen me with my seam ripper!!!!:rotfl: I love how it takes so little material to make that though!

I didn't cut the notches when I made mine, so I would just get your fabric, go ahead and iron it right away so you can see which would be the folded edge which would go down when attaching the other stuff. Of course, I am not sure that that is a guaranteed to work method! My fabric also didn't matter!

I just got through all 66 pages! I am not even going back to the old thread. We had a nasty nasty computer virus. We went out our computer for 38 days. I have been really busy sewing for out upcoming trip. My older DD did an impromptu photo shoot. She is missing all of her bows, cute shoes and bling but her is a sneak peak of some outfits. Jennwdw is making some really cute new bows for us. I cannot wait to get them. Bowmail is always the best.

All your dresse have come out wonderful! I love them all!!

Wow, that's beautiful. I want to say Hi!! I am new here and now subscribed. I

They are of my daughter last week in the dress. (She is so cute! She acts just like Mary Poppins when she is in the dress, as you can see!) It's showing some wear (especially the hat!) and is much smaller in her now but you get the idea. I didn't have a pattern and I made it from just looking at the photos of Mary in Disnay the year before. I tried to make it as accurate as possible. I hope you all enjoy the pics.

Itried to talk some of the girls (my daughters or nieces) into being Anastasia and Drizella last year when we ate at 1900 Park Faire, and none of them would do it!! BUT after meeting them, Lydia wants to be Anastasia this year!!! She wants Arminda to be Drizella. I love the working Cinderella dress!!! Sophie is such cutie! I'm suprised to see how tall she's getting though! She's suppose to be a baby!

Lydia wants you to know that she loves the Incredibles dresses! :thumbsup2

This is the one that I made my dd last year. I used Simplicity 9384.
th_IMG_4553.jpg

I just love this Jenny!

Aimee, I tried to talk Megan into Briar Rose's dress this year and she said no! I will have to show her all the cuteness she is missing. Great job on all of them, they are all beautiful.

Yesterday I was feeling a little better so I made a rag quilt for my neighbor who just had a baby. It went together so much faster than the first one I made! Once you know what you are doing, they just fly. I hope she doesn't mind the pink, it's for a boy, but that's the flannel I had on hand.

I think it's adorable!

For the record Fairygoodmother I thought I was not allowed on the disboutiquers page because I keep finding to many cute things for you to sew. Because you have lots of sewing for your daughters wedding, you have already thought up things to sew and for crying out loud we are not going until October give you some time.

Is it wrong that I am most excited about what clothes they will be wearing on the trip?

Oh if you want to try something cool for Aurora you could always try this.....
DSC02268.jpg

Stunning!!! What is the green dress?

If it makes you feel any better . . .

1. My oldest is almost five and insists on ruffles on everything.

2. I have the receipt from my Mom's ruffler that she bought in 1982. It was $30 also. Which I killed last year and had to buy a new Viking ruffler. I will take the cost of that one to the grave.
Now I'm so curious as to how much that cost!

wow Those are awesome outfits and some great fabric finds

WOWWWWW! those are all to cute Great job you must be a proud mama when your kiddos are wearing those!

OOh that is so pretty

That is cute your pink is not too overpowering :goodvibes

Love all the other stuff posted ! Mayson is looking for Boo Boo chicken on playhouse disney and Flicker ,Can i just say that Flicker may not have been the best named Handy Manny tool .The first time Mayson said it i thought i was gonna die it sounded like he was saying the F -word and i have to let everyone know he is saying FLICKER not F________...:rotfl:
well off to finish some more shirts... (HOPEFULLY):sad2:

O.K. I hope this works. It is my first try at posting a picture and believe me when I say that I am computer challenged.:rotfl: Anyway here is my version of the Jolly Holiday Dress.

BEAUTIFUL!!! You did a great job! I would really like a bigger picture though!

Wow, that's beautiful. I want to say Hi!! I am new here and now subscribed. I also made a Jolly Holiday Dress for my daughter for Halloween 2007. She wore it to Disney in Feb. 2008 and had an AMAZING and magical time. I had so many people stopping me asking me where they could get one. People also asked my DD for autographs and pictures. She was a little celebrity. Not to mention that she be-friended her favorite character Mary Poppins!

If anyone here works for Disney My DD's story was in volume 38, number 9, April 24-May 7, 2008 edition of Eyes & Ears (Disney's employees magazine). It was called "Mary's Biggest Little Fan" and featured her name, picture with Mary Poppins and a Thank you letter that I wrote to all of the wonderful castmembers who made our trip so special.

I will also try to post pictures.

Oh, and I love the Aurora dress that was just posted. Just beautiful. You are all so talented!

SOOOOOOOOOO cute!!! That is one of the other dresses on Lydia's list for this year!

Thank you! I tell everyone I know that if your going to Disney to meet your child's favorite character it's a good idea to go dressed up. They get a little bit of extra attention that makes it all worth so much more

Oh, and I would have loved that dress when I was a kid too! I would have danced and spun around all day! Too bad my mother was a little creativity challenged!

Heathersue has a video up on her TR of Tessa meeting Mary Poppins in her Jolly Holiday dress. It is so sweet! She really spent a lot of time with her.

Also, We have cancelled our trip to WDW for Sept:cheer2: Because I said I wanted to go to France instead and DH said ok.

I hope everyone is staying healthy and warm.

And, to think the other week you were mad at him for trying to talk you into going to WDW!!! What happened??? :confused3

Teresa this is the dress that Ariel wears in Ariel's Grotto restaurant in California Aventure (Disneyland's other park) and at the Princess Fantasy Fair in DL.
Sierra REALLY wanted this dress, so I kinda had to Frankenpattern it. I didn't get the color quite right, but it's as close as I could find, especially since it was purchased online and the color swatch wasn't great :) . We did, however, match the hairbow shell.

Toadstool-
I was actually coming here this am to ask about digitizing! I am probably jumping way ahead of myself since I just got my machine last week:rotfl2: What soft ware should I use? how hard is it?
I found this picture of the Haunted Mansion and it is one of my kids FAV rides ever and I would love to digitize it or applique it but since I am now i n love with my embroidery machine I am liking the idea of digitizing it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
I would be happy to help you. I love all things digitizing and machine embroidery!!! I use Embird mostly. You can get basic for around 150 dollars and then I think Studio(which is the digitizing part) for around the same amount I think. You have to have basic which is for editing in order to have Studio. I know it is alot of money for people to spend. I also have PE Design that costs alot more, and I prefer Embird.
You could kind of consider it like Photo Shop. If you are a photo shop pro then Embird will probably be easy for you. There are some great tutorials and I bought mine from www.secretsof.com from Carolyn Keebler. If you don't think you'd be up for trying it out pm me with a link to the picture or email me and I'd be happy to help you if it is something I can manage. :)

It is a Oopsy Daisy. It is all chiffon and super soft. The Feliz looks really cute with a pettiskirt. I do love the tank top. It is from Gymboree last season. I am planning on doing tees with the Pop Century logo.

I like Old Navy's tanks a lot. It if hard to find tanks this time of year in Maryland.
I am going to Old Navy today in hopes of finding tanks.
I went to the Oopsy Daisy site. I want that minnie petti badly!!! I keep thinking what would she actually be able to wear it under?? Probably nothing huh? LOL.. it must just be an outfit type of petti right?

I actually called up and ordered the kit, since you cant buy the fabric by itself. I dont know if I will tackle this pattern, that piping looks tricky. But I have been in love with the fabric since it came out, might as well just tuck it in my stash. It goes up to size 4 in the smaller size option. So even if I dont do it, I have a long time. I probably wont do the smocking though.

As for my Feliz- I am not using ribbon as my ties. I want to use ribbon to decorate the chest of the dress. The ties are on the inside. ;)
I just know how much of a rip off the kits are. That is why I have a hard time buying kits. I've seen the fabric online before. I'm going to have to research for it now. I remember a link on Martha Pullen brought me to it.
I completely misunderstood about the ribbon! My suggestion would be to use different ribbon.. I know bad suggestion. I just don't like when prints peek through appliques and such. I can't think of a good way to make a ribbon not see through other than maybe doubling it up and sewing it near the edges on top of each other so you don't see it.

Why did they move the banana???(bannanas removed so I could fit all this in one post!) I love it when I'm right!!!

It happens so rarely!!!
:rotfl2: :rotfl:

First off here are a couple new things . . .

DD2 as Working Girl Cindy and DD4as Briar Rose-

They are wearing these to the BBB before their princess transformation. I think they turned out pretty cute. :)

The Incredible are the coolest in our house these days. DD4 practices doing splits over top chairs like Elastigirl. They both love Violet. I used cheap fabric from Walmart for these and I wish I did not. I had more problems making this dress than any other. Go figure????

MarchTripPre002.jpg

The rest are DD2 sets to match DD4. DD2 was in a very corporative mood today. That is not the norm. Do you notice that DD2 is wearing ballet slippers? The only time I can get them off her feet is when it is bath time!

I saw all your pictures. I just cut them out so I could make just one post.. hehe

Wow!!! Your girls are adorable!!! Oh my goodness. They will get so much attention. I just love everything you made! I hope you don't mind copy cats??? :lmao:

Really cute rag quilt! I like the fabrics.
Teresa you are a hoot!

Okay well its my nap time, but I have this one story to share.
I stopped in a fabric store to see if I could buy a ruffler foot. Megan was with me (keep in mind she is 2). Now these people know me somewhat, meaning I have taken a few classes i nthe past and they know I sew for her. This older lady looks at Megan and says, "well, she'll be too old for ruffles pretty soon"

WHAAAAT??? Are you kidding me? What planet does she live on? So a 3yr old is too old for ruffles? I just looked and her and said "Noooo, I dont think so"

cant believe a ruffler foot is going to cost me $30!
It is so worth the 30 dollars!!! RUFFLES FOR LIFE!!! :cool1:

If it makes you feel any better . . .

1. My oldest is almost five and insists on ruffles on everything.

2. I have the receipt from my Mom's ruffler that she bought in 1982. It was $30 also. Which I killed last year and had to buy a new Viking ruffler. I will take the cost of that one to the grave. :sad2:
OOOhhh.. I want a viking machine. I hope the feet don't cost me as much as the machien. :scared:

You did such a great job of recreating this dress! She looks so happy!

Off to go fabric shopping yet again. I need to get off my booty and sew. You ladies sure know how to inspire me!:goodvibes

April- I think it's great that you get to go to Paris, and I did know what you meant, I just was posting real quickly and didn't put a :rotfl:

I hope you have a fantastic time!

I finally made some crayon roll-ups. Twistable crayons for the littles and twistable colored pencils for the bigs. I need to buy one more pack of crayons. They were easier than I thought considering I had to adjust measurements for different sized stuff.
