Sweetstitches - yes Moody Gardens - thats the place!!! They have an aquariium in one of the pyramids!!!!

I forgot to mention yesterday that the fabricsgalore site that Linnette posted had diet Coke fabric that some were looking for.

WOW!!!!!!!! Love that!!!!

** On another note, the lady who collided with my son's car last month was NOT insured. She was driving a 2004 Nissan Armada - UNINSURED!! She told our insurance company that she and her husband are divorcing and he cancelled the insurance without telling her. No problem for her - her car was virtually unscathed. My son's BMW was totalled.

GRRRRRRRR!
How frustrating!

Daniel got discharged today!
Great news!

Hi Guys,

We have our first fundraiser for our Camp Promise Trip at church tomorrow am - since we have the nice chef's hat pattern now, I decided to make a fun one for DH, and then decided to do an apron to match!! He seemed to like it! Its a pancake breakfast, and DH is in charge of the omlettes!!

th_100_0601.jpg
That looks awesome! I bet he had fun wearing that! I'm not surprised someone else wanted one. I think I have seen eagle fabric at WalMart. The fabricsgalore had lots of cats.

And just because she has been my puppy fuzz for 10 years now and turned 11 years old today (just a guess = we got her at the SPCA) here is Zoey enjoying her birthday cupcake!!!
100_0608.jpg
Happy Birthday Zoe! I think she's smiling! I would imagine being your dog is quite the life!:thumbsup2

Also wanted to say that I love everything that has been posted - all of the feliz and vida dresses and skorts especially. I'm trying to figure out if my almost 10 yo daughter would wear a vida. This semester is crazy busy at school, so I'm not getting much sewing done right now. I do have an air force bowling shirt for Nate almost completed though (my dad was in the air force when I was born).
Well the Vida is an A-line style and I made my 9 yo several A-lines for our trip last Aug. My DD will wear things at WDW that she won't wear at home.

Attikus is doing a little better today. He is still running a temp, around 102. Which is alot better from yesterday. He did sleep better last night and is taking some bottles. But it looks like another day of temp.

Thank you all for asking. This virus is sad, I can't imasgine running a temp this long.
pixiedust: Hope Attikus continues to improve. Poor little guy! And poor Mom too-it must be so hard on you.

Okay - situation that I need help with...okay -one of the people who came 2 years ago as a nurse with us came this morning to help saying she wants to come back this year. Now, 2 years ago (and 3 years ago) she brought her then 16 year old daughter with her. Now I always am looking at the best in people, especially when they are helping others, and I fought for this teen to come again the 2nd year they came (but she blew it on me)...but, unfortunately, she really has some issues of defiance, disobedience, stirring the pot, creating issues, drama queen, not following directions (and leading others, including my Rebekah, to not follow directions as well). She would do stupid things like wear a bikini under her swim suit (in defiance of the rules - but seriously, she looked really stupid), not show up on time for duties, disobey her work crew leader (even made the leader cry - she was an older teen)....things got so bad at one point that the camp director had to speak to her (we were so embarassed that it got that far) and in general they asked that she not come back....so, her mom says to me today that she wants her teen to come (now 18) to babysit her 2 year old for her while she is on nurse duties.....GUYS, What would you do??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????:confused3 I am all about giving chances, but this is a situation that could ruin the 2 weeks of came (yes, it was that bad)......please help me think this all through, Im bound to see them in church tomorrow.....:scared:
Could you say it is out of your hands and the camp will not allow her to come back.

eyoreforever.......I will trade you my foster for yours!!!! I have a wild child beagle/doxi mix. She is pure torture to my guys! non-stop on the go! Love her to death, but thank god she is hopefully going to be adopted this weekend!
I just love labbies! I used to raise, train and show them when i was younger. They are such lovable goofs who truly grace each family.

Finally got 2 more sets finished.. I am on a princess kick I think!

Lori
I love the yellow one! You should keep it!

I finished my first dress last night!

I had some issues with the one seam - closing it up by hand - but, overall I'm very happy with how it turned out. It is the a-line dress pattern from YCMT's website that you all recommended.

Oh my goodness this is adorable!! Your daughter is just gorgeous!
How exciting!!!! I paid the most I've ever paid for my May trip but was pretty set on the dates I wanted. I'll be there 5/2 to 5/9. What are your dates?
We will be in Flrorida from May 5-16. A bit shorter than my origianal plan, we were planning on going from the 2-16th. But Brian started his yearly "I'm not going to Florida this year" rant and he was happy with the 5th and Corey won't have to make up as much school this way. I hope we can meet up somewhere when we are both there! We probably are only going to the parks for a few days this year. I'm really trying to save money this year, so we will use the park passes we already have. I have no idea how many days are on them though! I sure wish there was a way to tell how many days were on those things BEFORE we got there! That is so frustrating!

Here is Nik's vday outfit. I am not happy with the shirt:confused3 Though i was able to use Carla's updated elongated patter
th_IMG_0732.jpg
!
MArlo, it looks fantastic!! Great twirl!!! What didn't you like about the top? I think it looks perfect!
Since school was cancelled, Leighanna wanted to do a photo shoot with the outfits I have done so far. I still have a few more planned, I just don't know if I will have enough time.
Tinker Bell Feliz:
th_Disneyoutfits2009005-1.jpg
!

STunning, simply stunning!!! I just got the Feliz the other day, I'm so excited!!!
I like Leighanna's shorter hair!
It's a lot easier to take care of those little buggers when the hair is shorter!

Jeanne, Lily is going to be the best dressed girl at Disney in February! Well.... except for Leighanna!
No seriously, that is just BEAUTIFUL!
I can think of several little girls who will be JUST as well dressed! :snooty:

Get ready for TOO MUCH LILYS!

So I bought the Feliz pattern months ago thinking I would use it to make Lily's Valentine's/Chef Mickey's dress. Cut to yesterday where I realize I don't have time to learn a new pattern, especially one I'm askeered of! So I cheated and made a Vida with ruffles.

I had to bribe Lily to model by letting her take her babies outside for a walk. And yes, her hair is wet :snooty:

th_DSCN3540-1.jpg

Jeanne, Jeanne, Jeanne! Need I remind you that you have a MOST important trip coming up?? Do you really want that child getting sick before you go??? 40 is pretty warm, but still, brrrrrrrrr :cold: We don't mind inside pictures!

That dress is so cute though!!!! Lily looks absolutely adorable in it!!!
Okay, enough lurking on part. I have read 100's of your postings and thought it was time to say "hi." I love, love, everything you guys do! How do you do so much sewing and posting? You guys move fast!

I do a lot of sewing and my girls are clammering for me to make outfits like the ones they see posted here. Guess I need to get going before they are too old to wear them!

I do have a bunch of questions for you guys but I'll start with one. I really want a ruffler for my Bernina. I saw that someone said they ordered theirs on e-bay. They appear to be similiar to Bernina's and in the $20-30 range. Is this a good deal and do you guys use rufflers enough to warrent the purchase?
:welcome: !!! I don't use my ruffler much anymore since I started using the tension tightening technique on my machine! You set your stitch length to the longest length, and then crank the tension up on your machine, sew slowly and the fabric will gather itself! It's so cool! (just remember to set the tension to normal when you are done!)

Well with the commercial patterns I buy they usually all give options for embellishing. I usually just place my pattern pieces on the fold and cut them out as 2 pieces instead of 4. One of my sewing buddies taught me that.
I think I still might get the CarlaC ones though just because I like the idea of printing them out. Sad huh? LOL
I must have at least 3 pants patterns. I really don't need another, but I just keep wondering if this is going to be way better than the ones I make. :rotfl:
Thank you ladies for all the input..
You know what I've found, is that you actually just have to TRY one of Carla's patterns to understand what the big deal is all about. I was very skeptical before I tried them. Like you, I didn't "get it" either. But, now, if I weren't afriad of heights, I would sing her praises from the rooftops! Plus, I really like the idea of actually KNOWING the person that designs the patterns.

What do ya think????

Love it Wendy!!! I'm so happy to hear that it went so well!! And, that Daniel is doing better!
Thatis a super cute puppy!

I had some sort of snap on dolls when I was kid and LOVED them! When I saw the new ones from FP I wanted to snatch them up,
Dolly pops!!! I had dolly pops, too! My mom still has them!
Yep, that was them. I sold mine on ebay about 5-6 years ago. I still had the box and all and hated to part with them, but really I can't save everything. Right?

I loved our Dolly Pops!!! I still remember the day Mom and Dad bought them for us! I was so excited!

However, I heard that you made a comment that Lily and Leighanna will be the best dressed kids at the dismeet. To that, I think I will just reply:
:snooty:
Hmm, now WHO would have told you that??? :confused3
OOPS! I meant to say that All of the dismeet kids will be the best dressed at Disney World! :flower3:
It's just that seeing that too cute outfit that Jeanne posted temporarily made me lose my mind! :goodvibes
Uh huh, uh huh.. men! :snooty:
Let me remind you of this then!:

You need to tell her no. She shouldn't have even ASKED after the past problems! Since you had to fight for her to come the second time, is it a rule that she isn't suppose to be coming to begin with? You could use that as a reason.

eyoreforever.......I will trade you my foster for yours!!!! I have a wild child beagle/doxi mix. She is pure torture to my guys! non-stop on the go! Love her to death, but thank god she is hopefully going to be adopted this weekend!

There is!!!! There is a phone number you can call and give them some info and they can tell you. I will see if I can find the number.

From the ticket Stikee-
F. How can I Check on What Remains on Old Tickets?

Any Ticket Window or Guest Services Location can read your old tickets and tell what the remaining entitlements are. Also, if the ticket has become demagnetized they can issue replacements. The Resort Lobby Concierges may not be able to read all tickets.

See Post #13 in this thread for how to determine the serial number of the ticket(s)

There is a special phone number, 407-566-4985 which you can all. Press "Option 2" when prompted. The CM on duty will be able to assist you. This line is only available weekdays during normal business hours.

ooh- I did not know there was a matching flannel. Our store had 1 bolt of the fleece and then I never saw it again. I thought I had saved a scrap to make a doll poncho but could not even find that yesterday. I will have to keep my eye out for the flannel.

The matching flannel was at Joann's I think. A friend bought it for me and mailed it to me. I wish you luck in finding it!

We will have to try to get together this year! It is frustrating that you can't call someone at WDW with your pass numbers and find out how many days you have left. This May trip will be just me and Joe (8 years). We are staying at AKL. I haven't planned out my days yet. I do know that I want to eat breakfast at CP & dinner at California Grill on the 6th for my birthday but haven't planned much beyond that.

ETA: How great that you can call and find out how many days you have left! That should be helpful!!!

Hi Guys,

What do ya think????

I love it! That is so fun.

I do have to say that the stores around here are really good about pulling things as soon as there is a recall and they won't stock them again. None of the stores around here carries Peter Pan Peanut Butter anymore.

I miss Peter Pan Peanut Butter. I had a HUGE crush on Peter Pan as a kid, and I used to sleep with our jar of Peter Pan Peanut Butter. So sad it's being recalled. We had a beautiful thing.

Sweetstitches - yes Moody Gardens - thats the place!!! They have an aquariium in one of the pyramids!!!!

You were in Galveston? My kids love the Aquarium pyramid at Moody Gardens. Every year, just before Christmas, we take the kids for dinner at Rainforest Cafe in Galveston, and then we head over to Moody Gardens for the Festival of Lights. This year, they have really scaled down on the Festival of the Lights due to the damage from the hurricane. Anyways, I live about 30 miles from Galveston.

Hello. Still mostly a lurker but I have finished 2.5 outfits for our trip in March. :cheer2: One still needs a top to go with the skirt that is why it is half done. I will post pictures as soon as I get my model in her new clothes. Anyway, my question involves non-sewn applique. I used the ultra bond or whatever it is called to put the applique on the dress. Do I still need to treat the edges or will it make it in the wash? Can I use something like fray check or does it have to be fabric paint? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Robyn

Yes, I was in Houston on business, and we drove down to Houston to see what things looked like post storm. We had been there several times for cruises. My inlaws live in Austin. Whew, boats in the middle of parking lots!! But, spirits seemed good! They did a great job with what they had with the lights. it was kinda weird how dark the island was in spots. Im amazed that somethings looked untouched, whilte others were just wiped away. We love the rainforest too!! Have you ever done the ride there???

Is anyone one who could help me guess what size simply sweet for my cousins little girl???? I dont have a chest measurement - but her waist is 17".......she is between 6-9 months old I think????

What a great idea! How did you get the ring around the one Mickey head?

The mickey heads did not come out as well as we wanted for some of the shirts, so we outlined it with a bleach pen.

This was the first year since we moved to Texas that we missed the festival of lights at Moody Garden's. I was afraid they might have scaled back due to the hurricane and I wasn't brave enough to see what has become of Galveston yet. I love the acquarium at Moody Gardens though.

On a sewing related note, I need to stop buying material. I just loaded up my washer with nothing but new fabric. I have a large capacity front loader. That's a lot of fabric. In my own defense, I do have a trip to Disneyland coming up and a couple of big give outfits I am signed up for, and Valentine's day is coming. Okay so I really just like to buy fabric. :rotfl2:

I'm really excited about one of the outfits I have planned for the biggive. Its for a 9 year old who likes HSM and pink. I really didn't like any of the HSM fabric I found, but I found a really cute black HSM tee-shirt with a hotpink HSM design and heart on it. So I got that and then went to Joann's and found some gorgeous black with hot pink polka dot material to make a flouncy skirt with.

So is it bad to have 2 outfits a day planned for Disneyland? We are going to DL for 4 days and I think I am going to do between 6 and 8 outfits for the DL portion of our trip. Then I have a zoo outfit, and acquarium outfit and a Snoopy outfit (for Knottsberry farm). I think I am going to be doing a lot of sewing over the next few months.

I am loving all the stuff I've seen lately. Some of it is really amazing.

Tom said that?:p

Going back to finish skimming pages.[/QUOTE]

And the fight is on! :rotfl2: I wish we were going to be there! Can you imagine all of the comments there will be when they see all of these kiddos in their customs? You'll all be lucky if you can walk through the park without being stopped!

This is a hard one! The only thing I can think of is to say we loved your help and would greatly appreciate it in the future but due to the previous years you don't think it is a good idea for (18 yr old) to come. That sadly enough, you had to fight for her coming the 2nd time around and it didn't get any better.

Hmm, easy enough to type, sure I couldn't get that out!

So, I think you posted a website once about this camp. If so you can you post it again. It is such a wonderful thing!

Very diplomatic! And I'd also blame the camp too, say that she isn't invited back. In a way that is the truth!

I love it! That is so fun.

Hey, we have Peter Pan peanut butter here now. It's all over our stores here in Dallas.

Two outfits a day seems normal to me! Actually, even if my kids were to wear regular street clothes and not customs :scared1: while we were in Disney I would still probably pack two outfits for each day. They always seem to get messy, wet, etc. and need a change.

Wendy

As far as the baby goes, my Lilly is 6 months and I am making her a six month dress for Valentine's day using that pattern. But she is tiny (weird for me since my older two are giants). If your niece is closer to 8-9 months and you want her to wear it for more than a month I would make it the next size up (the 12 month, 1 year size) and adjust the length as needed. And thinking of how they are shaped, I would say that their waist and chest are usually pretty close to being the same size at this age. Good luck, I don't know if this was much help!

Hi all

Okay first and foremost...I went nuts at JoAnn's today. The poor woman looked at me and said "please tell me that you are just adding to your stash and not actually MAKING something with all these!"

And the 2nd thing I need Big Give help!

I went to 4 stores today and can not find a short sleeved 2T tshirt to make the family shirts for the Macintosh Big Give. Does anyone have any suggestions? Apparently in MA, we arent' ready yet for short-sleeves so nobody is carrying them. None of the craft stores, WalMart or Target had them. Any other thoughts????

Hey, we have Peter Pan peanut butter here now. It's all over our stores here in Dallas.

We don't get any up here ... Even before the recall I haven't seen any Maybe it's kind of a regional thing? It's just nice to know it still exists! :thumbsup2

Wow, Joann's has been holding out on me! I've never seen that PiratesOTC fabric, or the HSM fabric with the cast's heads all over it. What fun prints!

PM'd you Kirstine!

Thanks Jessica...PMd you back :thumbsup2

I hadn't seen the POTC fabric either...which is why I bought the rest of the bolt. ;) HSM I've seen on here but my JoAnn's never had it before. So I bought two yards of that too "just in case"
