I'm confused on the location of views from rooms?

If I ask for a bear face courtyard view ... What view and location would I get?

We have a CV BB room for September. I'd like a room overlooking the falls closer to the lobby....not the pool. How would I request that? Is there a specific term for that area?

Thanks!

I think it is referred to the upper courtyard. Or maybe you need to request the upper part of the inner courtyard. We had a room there and it was a very nice view. :)

That is our favorite spot. We never knew what to call it so we've always requested:

Bunk Beds (cuz they are only a request on CL)
View of Silver Springs
North Wing (so we an see the sunrise)

And our room/view has always been perfect.

That is a pretty small area when you think about it buy we've always gotten lucky!

:thumbsup2

We got room 7402, concierge level...but I think if you requested 6402 or 5402 it would be nice as well. Had a castle view and could see fireworks every night! Enclosed balconies so not the greatest and overlooks Smokehouse and loading dock but castle view? Pretty amazing, we couldn't have been happier with the room!

The Bear Face (Inner Courtyard, Open to Lobby) rooms are on the east side of the lobby between the wings and have balconies that face east towards Bay Lake. These are as far west of the pool as our courtyard view room can be. There are relatively few of these rooms though (only a few on floors four and five) so you're not guaranteed to get one with even if you request it. We do consider them to be the ultimate room location at WL.

Thanks so much for the info. : ) I may just go with it and just request a king bed with a bathtub wherever it ends up being location wise. I've read limited king beds with tubs so thinking comfort must be number 1
It's our 35th anniversary but of course we can't get it all ... Ultimate location and king bed. I'm happy to be on vacation so it's all good : )

Were you perhaps in 7042, at the end of the CL hall section on the North side? From what I've seen there aren't _402 room numbers, but _042 seems to fit your description.

That does seem like a great location, and on floors 4-6 it is standard view. :)

Does the "geyser" near the pools still work? I remember reading a while back on easywdw that it seemed to never be on anymore?

Yes!!! You are right - I just checked with my hubby! It was 7042 and a wonderful room!

I'm mostly interested in a lake view, are these the rooms I need to request or is just asking for a lake view good enough?

I don't care if we are in one of the wings as long as we can see the lake from our balcony.

You should be fine with just an "Inner Courtyard" request. The Bear Face rooms have balconies that face directly towards the lake, but are slightly further from it. You can get great lake views from the wing room balconies, you just have to look to the East rather than straight out.

Just booking courtyard view doesn't guarantee a lake view though since some rooms in the South wing overlook the Villas courtyard and don't have a lake view.

Enjoy your trip, Bay Lake is beautiful. We watched the boat parade from our balcony on the North Wing and enjoyed it.

Hi all - just switched from BCR to WL for September....free dining! Staying in CV BB room. So, I've been busy trying to acquaint myself with the WL for a few days. What is a bear-face room? Thanks!

Just came upon this thread (and trying to make sense of it all! LOL).....we are looking forward to returning to WDW and trying WL August 9-17. YAY!!! :cheer2:

These rooms are those which have an inner courtyard view and open to the lobby. Therefore they are between the two wings and on the 4th or 5th floor.

From post 5 of this thread, "They are centered in the middle of the inner courtyard and they overlook the entire courtyard area from the balcony with the lobby outside the front door. They are located on the 4th and 5th floors and are odd numbered from 4067-4079 and 5067-5069."

Many consider these to be the ultimate location, but there are only 14 of them total, so they can be hard to get.

When you look at the resort from Bay Lake at night, the windows above and between these rooms make what looks like a Bear's Face.

Hi, I've only read the last few pages, so pardon if this has been asked already, but does anyone know if WL will run boats early for the 6am MK opening on 5/23?
This is the info. I found HERE on the WDW transportation schedule for 5/23/14. With buses and ferry boats running at 0515, I am guessing that resort boats will operate before that time. This is only a guess, but they might begin operating at least one hour prior to park opening, so at least 0500?

The Magic Kingdom parking lot at the Transportation and Ticket Center is scheduled to open at 4:30 a.m. on May 23, 2014. Ferry boat service is set to begin at 5:15 a.m.

Walt Disney World bus transportation is set to begin at 5:15 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014. It will be operating for the full 24 hours of the event.
Here is the full schedule of the Disney Monorails for Rock Your Disney Side:

~ The Express Monorail will begin running at 5:15 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, and continue until 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014.

~ The Resort Monorail will begin running at 5:15 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, and continue until 3:30 a.m on Saturday, May 24, 2014. It will then begin again at 5:30 a.m. on May 24, 2014, and run until 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014.

~ The Epcot Monorail will begin running at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, and continue until 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014. It will then begin again at 3:30 a.m. on May 24, 2014, and run until 11:00 p.m. that evening.

Aaaaaand you had more than one of those?!?!?! :drinking1 :drinking1

;)
No, only one Trout Pass beverage. I think I was talking about Territory Lounge where I may have had more than one once. I must have been extra thirsty…FL heat/fireplaces and all;)

I am sooooo excited to be staying at WL 6/28 - 7/5 I have wanted to stay here for several years and hubby finally said yes!!!:cool1:

We are splitting the difference between my birthday :cheer2: and our anniversary so we have lots to celebrate this time! So I am hoping for some luck and a nice CM to help us with and upgrade! Right now we have a courtyard view. Any hints on how to get (if you even can get) an upgrade??
I'll log your dates and happy (early) birthday:). Being that you are in a CV room, you are already booked in the highest non-CL booking category.

So excited! Just got my reservations for our trip all set! I'm looking forward to the bunk bed room 11/13-20. And my TA hooked us up with great dinner ressies almost every night at 6:30 including 'Ohana and Yachtsman :) We even have a princess day booked that starts w a 8:30 appt at MK BBB and 11:45 lunch at CRT- hopefully I'll be able to snag an A&E fast pass for that day. It's starting to feel real, even if it is 6 months away.
I'll log your dates, too. Before you know it, your trip will almost be here!

17 DAYS UNTIL WE ARRIVE AT WDW!!!!!

:banana::banana::banana:My bananas are dancing!!!! :banana::banana::banana:

Has anyone utilized the new FP+ kiosk in the parks?? My FPs are all scheduled, but now with 4th and 5th passes being added, I may have to revamp things :upsidedow This could take a while...

Hope everyone has a happy Sunday!
Nothing better than a happy, dancing, trip-anticipating 'nana emote. Although the PIF guy might be a close second:dancer:

It is rumored on the CL thread that the 4th FP can be reserved using the phone app., but this hasn't been tested yet, that I know of. It's certainly worth a try.

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge from July 20-27. Thank you all for the incredible information you have shared here!
Welcome to the thread and I'll put your dates in the Lodgers' Log. Let us know if you have any questions.

We are doing our first VWL stay in 3 days!!
I am so looking forward to it. This thread has been great for information!! :goodvibes
Only one more day to go!! Hope you'll check-in with us after you arrive.

Thanks for the info on her quiet pool! We are staying CV BB over 9/20 to 9/27 with free dining! First stay. Can anyone give me their thoughts on the whispering canyon breakfast? It's two adults and two kids. Thought it might be fun one morning before heading into the parks. Thx!
I'll log your dates, too and congratulations on your first WL stay. Just wanted to throw in the good word for the Trail's End breakfast. We love it and it's so much fun walking and/or boating over to FW. I highly recommend it and the buffet is delicious.

I have photos and more Trails' End information in my 2012 TR HERE.

Can't wait to hear that incredible background music loop as I B line for TL, while mom checks us in. 6 days!
Your trip is almost here! :welcome: to the DIS and the WL/VWL thread. I assume you're heading to Territory Lounge and not Typhoon Lagoon?. TL is the perfect place to wait for Mom - enjoy!

Does the "geyser" near the pools still work? I remember reading a while back on easywdw that it seemed to never be on anymore?
I hadn't heard of any issues with the Fire Rock Geyser. The stream that runs into the pool was/is dry due to maintenance. Could that be what they were referring to?

We leave in 9 days!!!!!!! Soooooooooo ready for my Happy Place!:cloud9::woohoo::cheer2:
You're going to have a great time!

Congratulations! The first page has "Bear Face" room information HERE at the very bottom of the page. The CV rooms in the middle of the resort are considered the "Bear Face" rooms because at night, they appear to look a bit like a bear's face. They are really just rooms that directly front Bay Lake/pool/geyser and whose room doors open up to the lobby. They are not located in one of the wings.
