We returned from our WL stay a week ago. I want to thank Kook again for this thread, because it was quite helpful.
We stayed in 2119, lobby level, courtyard view, at the very end of the hallway. We had a ground level patio that I loved because the creek ran right in front of our room, and we felt we had a little more privacy because the pine trees blocked us from the view of passersby on the sidewalk down to the pool area. Our room was clean and everything worked as it should. I loved our location.
The grounds were absolutely beautiful, and I love the beach and the views of the lake it provides. It's a perfect spot to watch the EWP every night. The pool area is WAY bigger than the pictures make it look like. I was concerned that the pool looked too small for the resort size, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The only part of the resort I found too small was Roaring Forks, but that tends to be my complaint with all resort counter service. Not only was it small, but there were absolutely not enough CM's working to handle the crowd. It was a 30 minute wait for our food every time we ate there, unless we were very early for breakfast. If you are in a hurry in the morning and still want a hot meal, go for the waffle line. The eggs line always was a long wait. Similar for lunch and dinner, go for the sandwich and salad line, the grill line was seriously 30-45 minutes.
Bus service was adequate, and in line with other resorts we've stayed at. We took the boat to the MK every time, just because the weather was sublime and I very much enjoyed the ride. By the end of the week we were extremely fed up with the busses, but honestly, we get that way no matter where we stay. Every time, by day 3, I find myself really wishing we had a car so that I could get from point A to point B in 10-15 minutes, rather than 30. Downtown Disney/Typhoon Lagoon is a huge pain in the rear end. Not enough busses and too many stops. We, and several other people, experienced problems first thing in the morning trying to make it to 8am dining reservations and ended up taking cabs to both EP and the AK. To be absolutely fair, I think all busses were having issues the EP morning. The CM was out on the radio with dispatch and we were listening to the conversations back and forth.
We thought everything about the WL was beautiful and really, really enjoyed our stay there, we'd absolutely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone. The Poly is still our home base, but with all of the construction hoopla going on, if we decided to stay on Disney property again in the next two years the WL is absolutely our 2nd home.
