We tried to watch Wishes from the dock last night and couldn't see anything. Trees were blocking all but the highest explosions. As for roaring fork, walked by it this morning and it was jam packed at about 745am.

Unfortunately it takes two modes of transportation to get to the TTC. We like taking the boat to CR then monorail to TTC, but have also done it with two boat rides via MK.

Wishes isn't very visible from the boat dock but if you happen to be on a boat to/from MK during it you will get a good view. The EWP is nicely viewed from the dock though.

Roaring Fork does get busy at breakfast. We get around this by having one of us run down and get breakfast and bring it back up to the room.

You are fortunate to be going at a very low crowd time of year. We have gone during that week each of the last two years and were impressed with the lack of crowds. We saw that there were always some open tables at Roaring Fork, and even saw it totally empty a couple of times, but this is definitely not the norm. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for all your replies. We would be watching the fireworks from the TTC ferry dock, so will schedule a bit more time in for getting there.

Totally agree with you, sending one person for breakfast makes perfect sense. Thank you!

We just checked in!!! Room 5034......... Stepped onto balcony and what is directly in front if us......the Castle!!!!!!!

So very happy!!!!

All right people, please help calm me down. I just read on a DVC thread that the noise issues and no water during the day are still a big issue at VWL. We arrive in 2 weeks and will be back at the resort each day for a nap for my little guy. I'm super stressed about him not being able to nap with all of the construction noise. If he can't get a nap in those days, it will be a DISASTER! Also, in regards to the no water from 10-5...are there showers/bathrooms by either pool area? We have early dinner reservations and would normally shower after pool time before going to dinner. I feel like our trip (which is planned so perfectly!) is falling to pieces very quickly. I rented DVC points so switching is not an option...just trying to figure out how to make the best of it. :( Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. :)

Please do yourself a favor and bring a white noise machine for the little one. My kids had no problem with construction noise, but I did the day I tried to nap. We brought two noise machines with us - one for each bedroom. Obviously I didn't turn mine up enough.

No water was a bigger issue for us - I would mention it at checkin if it's going to be an issue for you.

I'll try to write a review up soon. We were in room 3553. Feb 1-8. Feel free to pm me.

I'm a little embarrassed to ask this question b/c it seems so silly, but I will anyways. I'm not a great sleeper and have a hard time sleeping on hotel pillows that are very fluffy - where your head sinks way down into it. At home, I use a relatively flat, firm pillow. I bring my own pillow on trips when feasible, but we have so much stuff to bring to Disney with our three kids. Can someone describe the wilderness lodge pillows? I know, SO ridiculous, but I'm a bad enough sleeper that I'll pack my pillow if necessary. Thanks!

Hi :) Just booked a one day stay at WL CL Standard Room with an AP discount on 3/27, we are then headed to AKV CL in a Deluxe Studio from 3/28-4/5 :)

We thought it would be fun to check out WL CL.

What are the standard rooms CL like and is there anything special I should watch out for? It is our first stay at Wilderness Lodge.

Thanks :)

.
Annie,

The first two pages of the thread have lots of photos and information that you might want to peruse. I would recommend taking the free WL/VWL tour. I have a link to more information on it in post 1. The Standard Club Level rooms are identical to all the other non-suite rooms at WL. There are many CL photos and lots of information in the CL section of the thread in posts 9 - 11.

Checked in yesterday and was very pleased to be shown to a room with a bunk bed for my DS ( a last minute request on his part). CL has been great. Checked in by Mike who is so friendly! Balloons and a card were in the room last night when we returned from Magic Kingdom and they graciously found a ginger ale for us this morning when one of my boys had an upset belly. Relaxed in the pool this morning and now we are at Epcot. Oh, and they do have oatmeal in the lounge (a question some had last year).
What a great first day you had and Mike is wonderful. The oatmeal is only offered in the winter at WL. Enjoy your stay!

Thank you very much

What a happy family! Love the photo. Did your other DD take the photo? I'm glad you love your room view and it sounds like you just might be watching Wishes from your balcony tonight? Have FUN!

Thanks for posting. Hopefully someone who is there now can update everyone on the current status of the water and noise.

Ask anything on this thread - no worries. Let's see, I always bring my own pillow and I put it on top of one of the room pillows so my recollection might be sketchy. But, I don't recall them being very fluffy, more like a medium fluff perhaps? There are 4 pillows on each bed and I feel like each one is unique in their fir mess level. There should be 1/4 that you will like and if not, you could always ask Lodgekeeping for a couple of extras and see if those are more to your liking.

You shoud not be embarrased! A good night's sleep is important. And this reminds me that I need to ask--does anyone know whether or not the pillows and/or other bedding at WL are made of down? I have developed an allergy and almost ended up in the hospital last time I traveled for business. Thanks!

No, they aren't down-filled.

Yes indeed, full view if wishes from balcony! So happy to have given WL a try. It's just beautiful :)

A random guest took the pic, DD 22 is in college and couldn't miss class... So she had to miss the trip :(

2 Weeks from tomorrow and we head home! I think I will start packing tonight.

I was also very excited to see that you can now fast pass plus the new Festival of Fantasy parade. Traded out Peter Pan's flight for it today.

Not staying in OFC this trip, but I hope we get a high floor over the otter pond. OFC for the trip at the end of October. That one is 244 days away.

Does anyone know if the new drink mugs have made it to WL? I apologize if this has been asked and answered.

So looking forward to our upcoming visit! Curious as to the differences in the breakfast buffets at the Lodge's Whispering Canyon Café and Fort Wilderness Roaring Fork (do I have them right?) Same menu or are there differences? Thank you!:)

Well, Trail's End is the buffet at Fort Wilderness, and is the only one of the three with a breakfast buffet. Roaring Fork is WL's quick service restaurant, while Whispering Canyon Cafe is the sit down restaurant in the lobby, but they don't have a breakfast buffet. They do however have excellent breakfasts and a platter option that will make sure you leave full. Also if you want the buffet, FW is a short boat ride or beautiful morning walk away. Enjoy your trip!

Quick room assignment question! I called tonight to double check something on my WL reservation, and it turns out that they never entered my room request in the system. It was 10:00pm Disney time tonight when they added it, and tomorrow is just 4 days from my check in. I know they normally do the room assignments 5 days prior to arrival, so is it likely that they've already assigned my room and I won't get what I was requesting? I was really hoping for a MK view, but I'm afraid I'm going to be out of luck now.

Good to know...my last experience was frightening.
Since you are allergic to down, I would always ask at check-in at any hotel whether any of the bedding is down-filled, just to be on the safe side. It's my understanding that with many guests allergic to down, at least in the US, synthetic down is mostly used, and it's cheaper, at least compared with goose down. But, you did experience an allergic reaction to some duck/goose down somewhere, so best to ask.

It must be hard not having DD22 there, but it's so nice that your DD16 has some time off. We don't have any time off from Christmas to April (spring break).

Enjoy your first full day of Disney magicpixiedust:

How did the packing go? I don't know if the new mugs are at RF yet.

Are the rooms that connect to the deluxe rooms also club level or are they bookable as club level?
It is my understanding that only the rooms that connect to the VP and Pres. Suites have CL access because they are on the CL floor. The Deluxe rooms are on floors 1-6 and I thought that someone reported here a couple of years ago that they couldn't book a Deluxe connecting room as a CL room. There would have to be a booking code for it and you could certainly call the WDTC and ask them, but I don't think it's possible, I think you have to book the room on the CL floor.

The reservation is usually dropped into the resort system at about the 5-day mark and sometime after that the Room Assignor assigns the room. Your request will most likely be seen. But, just ask at check-in if your request was able to be fulfilled. I think you're going at a very slow time so that's to your advantage.

Great first day!! Room ready at check in, great room, lunch at Bosrdwalk Bakery ...lobster rolls were yummy!!, headed to Magic Kingdom for our FP+ reservations. Then back to hotel Territory Lounge ....ate off the Artist Point menu, Awesome meal again! I'm glad that your trip is starting off so well. It is really nice when the room is ready at check in. It is really easy to go to MK from WL. I think it is better than being on the monorail. :goodvibes
