This week - specifically August 17th - marks the 5th anniversary of my mother's death from Breast Cancer. This week and this month is so horrible for me in so many ways - the memories are hard, the decisions still weigh on my mind.

54 was way too young to die. She left behind 4 kids, she had 5 grandchildren at the time now she has 8... So many things she's missing and we're missing too. I need my mom - I wish she was here - I wish she had taken care of herself - I wish somebody could have saved her.

Anyway - I just want to say PLEASE - take care of yourself. Get regualar checkups, don't ever believe it cannot happen to you, to someone you love. Nobody LIKES going to the DR - PLEASE just DO IT! Go - get yourself taken care of.

I miss you mom....

Your post breaks my heart sweetie :sad1: . Bless your heart!

I am so sorry and cannot imagine the pain of losing a Mom, especially so young  . Sadly, I lost my dear Dad 3 yrs ago after a 15 yr battle to cancer, so I've been there and feel your pain :sad1: . I've also lost 3 good friends the past yr too cancer :sad2: . My Mom also had breast cancer some yrs ago and praise God she was one of the lucky ones  . She has the faith of an angel, patience of a saint and I truly believe her outlook plus her faith is her salvation, of course, along with her drs and treatment.

I'm sure your Mom is so proud, guiding you and all her family and sweet grands from above  . Keep those memories and all the special times shared tucked away in your heart honey. They will help get you through all your days, as you see her spirit living throughout the family.

Thx for your post and the reminder, as women we cannot be too careful with our bodies. I know that beast is just waiting and one cannot be too careful. :guilty:

I lost my mom to breast cancer 12/25/85. I feel your pain. I know your loss and the loss of a wonderful grandmother to my children. Trust me it will be better, the pain will be less as the years go on. My mom was 65 so I had her longer than you. Still 31 is young to lose a mother.

Your in my thoughts.

MareQ, I wanted you to know that your thread prompted me to finally call the dr and make the physical appt that I've been putting off. I dread going and I hate making phone calls, so together it means that I do not do what I should be doing yearly. :sad2: Not good. The bad news is that the dr doesn't have appts available until April. I went ahead and made and appt and will consider finding another dr, but with my track record of putting off appts, who knows if and when that will happen. And I can call and see if they have cancellations before then, so I may get in a lot sooner. Just wanted to let you know that your sharing did make a difference.

Im so sorry.

My mom passed away January 28th this year - she was only 55.

They *were* way too young. :guilty:

Tomorrow's "THE" day - I don't know why "THAT" day is harder than all the rest but the memories are so tough .......
