Close hotels that offer AAA or government employee discount?

The former Sheraton Anaheim, now called the Majestic Garden Hotel, offers a good AAA discount. I'm sure many others due as well but I usually stay there due to their pet policy so I can't really say about the others. Be sure to bring your AAA card because the hotels in Anaheim really do check to see if your a member.

But sadly, the government rate is often more than the regular rack rates in my experience. I believe this is due to many agencies offering a fairly high per diem for OC. At least that is the case with my agency.

I would recommend the Best Western Park Place Inn, they offer AAA rates. It is a nice hotel and really close to the parks. :)

I know Quality Inn on Manchester and Howard Johnson also offer AAA discounts.

HoJo's also has a AAA rate which I think is usually 10-20% off.

Candy Cane Inn offers AAA discount. It's my favorite place to stay if I can't stay on site!

I've used my AAA at the best western. I've also used my government discount rate at the Marriott. I usually compare the two rates when shopping around and more often the AAA rate is better.

Tropicana has AAA rates.
They also will have a five night special at times. It generally saves $20/night.

HOJO's offers AAA rate as well as a rate discount from Mousesavers. I think the Mousesavers one was better than AAA so we used that one.

Tropicana not only has a AAA discount but an even better military discount. We always book with our military discount vs AAA. We would book at Candy Cane if we didn't get the military discount...

I used my AAA at Best Western Park Place Inn. It's right across from the pedestrian entrance on Harbor.

I travel on a government rate quote often (other than DL trips). The GOV rate is either a set rate or more usually a percentage off the rack rate...which means it is not always the cheapest if they have a promo rate or AAA rate.

Best is to visit your hotel choice's web sites and search for the "best" rate, AAA rate and GOV rate to see which is better for each property. There is no universal formula.

I do know the Holiday Inn on S. Walnut has both a AAA rate and GOV rate.

Keep in mind that "technically" the GOV rate is supposed to only be used while on official government business...not just that you are a Government employee (or contractor in my case)...but in 10 years never had anyone question me if I was on business or not!

Park Place Inn (Best Western) offers an AAA discount. This hotel is the closest to the park, without being a Disney property. You can also book with this discount using Orbitz.

I was just searching availability and pricing for Candy Cane Inn. I get the exact same price with or without the AAA promo code entered. Is there some different code for the AAA discount for them

I've noticed that Candy Cane Inn offers the discount sometimes and not others when trying to book online. I expect it has to do with time of year and how booked they are/expect to be. You can always call the hotel and ask if the AAA rate is available for your dates even if it isn't showing up online. I look at their rates often but haven't stayed there for a few years.

Both the Best Western Plus (Park Place Inn & Anaheim Inn) offer AAA and Gov discounts. If you are a AAA member (and I assume you are since you are asking) you can get a So Cal book and see, but these days sites like booking.com, hotels.com, etc can get you as good or even better rates.
