We drove straight thru on our 1st trip last year and would actually prefer that this time but instead of driving thru the night would like to head out around 4am arriving in WDW around 11pm on a Saturday. We check in Sunday and I have our day planned for Sunday with breakfast at Chef Mickeys @ 8:45am. I would prefer the set up be we stay over for shut-eye at a Motel 6 type hotel Saturday night and wake up early Sunday and head to WDW to get our room key. Any recommendations? This is only our 2nd trip so I am not familiar with the area.

If you can figure out which area you need, I would suggest priceline (the name your own price feature). You can get a great hotel at a very low price. I usually start with something like $50 and make sure that it's not lower than a three star (then you won't get something bad). I've gotten a 4 star in Chicago at $60 per night and a 4 star in San Antonio for $65 and a fantastic Hilton for $50, etc. The only thing that's a bummer about Priceline is that you can't request a certain type of room, you just get what you get. You don't find out which hotel you get until it accepts your bid but I've always been given a reputable hotel when I say that I don't want anything lower than 3 stars. Good luck!

Also priceline is based on 2 people so you could end up with a king room. We have always gotten 2 beds with priceline. And gotten some great rates & hotels. if it is one night I would just keep an eye on the location. And use hotels.com, expedia those kinda of site plus some Orlando hotels have their own websites, plus use the Orlando or Kisshimee(spelling i know ;)) Vistor & Convention websites.

We stayed at a Knight's Inn ,very close to Disney for 25$. It was very basic and not very pretty but it was clean, no bed bugs and close enough you could make it to your ressie easily...but if you are on the DDP and have to go by your hotel and pick up your keys to the world card then you are going to have to leave quite early to get that done and make it to the Castle!!!

Also look into the Super 8 Kissimmee/Orlando/Maingate (5875 W Irlo Bronson Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746). It's really close to WDW. My family and I stayed there for a week and loved it; a one night stay should be pretty decent. Check them out on Trip Advisor; they have pretty nice ratings. :)

Instead of taking the Disney exit and going under the welcoming arch, get on (or stay on) I-4 west (southwest) and swing onto 192 west. Get over to the left and skip the big Disney World ramp there too. After skipping the first light with an allowable right turn, right into the second driveway (no light) and there is a real Motel 6 there. The aforementioned Knights Inn is almost next to that.

Leaving the Motel 6 in the morning you must turn right onto 192. Then take a left at the first light, go down that road a few hundred feet, make a U turn there, then right onto 192 and take the big Disney World ramp.
