Do you have one of those cats who just will NOT let you clip their claws? My beautiful, sweet, gentle Gizmo can be likened wrestling a tornado filled with cacti when it's time to clip her claws (and this is even after she's been lovingly wrapped in the best towel.) The only thing I think that might be harder than this is giving her a bath.

(owch) Help.

Yeah, several :( I also have 2 polydactyl cats. Like I need to be cutting 7 per paw instead of 5.

I conceded defeat a long time ago. The cats walk around sharp, but happy. Makes life easier for both the cats and myself! I don't know why some cats consider a nail clipping a fate worse than death, but they do.

Dh and I tag-team our ball of fluff--she's a himmy and has the mushed in mug of a persian, so we clean her eye goopy a lot. When it comes time for nail clipping--Dh scoops her up baby style and begins to coo oh so gently--"clean your eyes?" while I dash in and *snip*snip*snip* That good 'ol distraction method :teeth:

Usually by the last paw she is very cranky--but it works for us. When it is all said and done, she's sauntered over to the kitchen mat and sits for her treats. At least she knows the drill ;)

I try and lull them into a false sense of security by waiting until they're really relaxed and sleeping on me. Then I quietly sneak out the clipper and try and get a few toes before they regain consciousness.

Usually the cats will let me clip a few nails when they are sleeping or I bring out the welding gloves they scratch and it doesn't hurt at all!

I tried that, but serenity never lasted more than two toes, and being slightly obsessive compulsive, I could never leave a half done paw. It always ended up in tears and bloodshed (mine).

Our 8 month old doesn't mind much but the 2y/o :confused3 I started training her about a year ago and it is getting easier. When I am done with her nails she gets catnip, at this rate I'll have no problem with her nails by the time she is 10. :rotfl:

Me too..::yes:: :cat: i gave up..

I've given up too... especially the "thumb" ones. That's the worst. My boy baby is ok, we can do it together and he lets me get it done. My baby girl get's very upset and starts hissing. We can get one paw at a time but by the end of one I really think she will bite me!! I am still waiting to get the other one for this month...
