Hi,

Has anyone done the Clear Kayak and snorkel in Cozumel? Any good?

We tried but were unsuccessful due to an approaching storm. The CM took us off the ship to meet our guide, who then took to several mini-van taxis (no charge) for the trip to the beach. We were shown some lockers that we could store things in, then given a kayaking technique and safety briefing. The plan was to kayak for awhile, then do some snorkeling.

Several of us got in the kayaks even though it was very choppy but then the guides decided to postpone our lesson until the waves died down. After about a half hour or so we tried again, but before we could launch a single kayak the water got worse, so once again we retreated to the little cafe to wait it out.

I'd been in the Navy so was watching the wind and waves, and decided the storm was going to get worse before it got better. Some of us asked to cancel and return to the ship. The staff got us another taxi (no charge) and we returned. The rest of the group followed about an hour later. DCL refunded our excursion fees.

That said, I think this would have have been a nice excursion. However, the plexiglass bottom of the kayaks were heavily scratched so I'm not sure if we'd have seen much from them, but DW likes to kayak while I like to snorkel so we'd probably try this again. It wasn't the tour operator's fault that a storm blew in, and they did try their best to get us in the water until it became unsafe.

Thanks for the info Sir William! I will just go ahead and try it and see what happens. :)

I'm looking at this too, would love it if someone who had a better opportunity could comment! Or, OP, let us know how it goes!
