What do you use to remove the film that builds up on a glass shower door?

I'd like to know this too..............I've tried vinegar but it doesn't get rid of all of it.......

Please tell;)

My cleaning lady asked us to switch soaps to liquid shower gel. There's not nearly the waxy buildup of bar soap. More of a preventative idea, but thought I'd throw it out there.

That Magic Eraser sponge thingy worked FANTASTICALLY!!! They're every bit as good as the commercial says!

I will have to try my Magic Erasers. I use those on floor scuffs.
I usually use Lime A Way or CLR in a spraybottle. But Magic Eraser sounds less messy. :)

Take a Bounce dryer sheet, wet it and wipe your doors. Then rinse. Worked for us in our old house. New house - we wipe them down after EVERY shower. Keeps them clean.

I can't help you with cleaning as a little elbow grease is the only thing that can help. I would try soft scrub.

My suggestion is after you get them clean or for those that have a new shower door. Wipe lemon oil on the doors after each cleaning. The film and such won't stick to the door and makes cleaning a breeze.

Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. After trying many products I gave this a shot and our door look brand new.

Sorry ElizK, I didn't see your post about this.

Tilex Mold and Mildew Remover might also work on it. It removed the hard water stains from my tub. I was afraid of getting mildew in my tub so I bought some of this to see if it would keep it away. You wouldn't believe how clean my tub is now! When I first moved in I scrubbed and scrubbed this tub and couldn't get all the stains out. I used the Tilex on it and when I went back later to rinse it off I was shocked at how clean my tub was.

I'm happy to report that Magic Eraser did the trick!

Thanks to all!!!

I wish I could find those darn ZAP! products.

I put some products to the test, since you reminded me I wanted to clean my shower doors! :jester:

I first tried the Magic Eraser. Good. Worked great on the chrome, and not too messy.

Next CLR. Better.

Lime Away. ::yes::

Geez -- my doors are now so clean they don't even look like there is glass in them! :jester:

I learned from the Magic Eraser use it leaves some sort of residue or film.
When we moved into this house last March, the walls were in good shape. But there were a few scuff marks on the walls and doors. Nothing bad. Just what you would expect.
The Magic Eraser worked great.
There was one spot on a wall about shoulder high that was a little longer than most. I scrubbed and it came right out. But ever since I have been able to tell where I wiped that area down, when looking from various angles. Bugs the crude out of me.
The paint was not taken off. You could just tell where I swiped the wall.
I finally got almost of it off with other cleaners. Windex worked well.
So I do think it leaves some type of coating behind.

I found ZAP! stuff at Home Depot last year. (Haven't looked since then.)

I used to use this, but the smell was so strong I had to find something else. I have now been using Tylex Soap Scum Remover for several years. I just spray it on and wipe it - not scrub it - with a wet cloth. Rinse it and it is squeaky clean. Best product I've found yet.

Make sure you squeege (sp) the doors every day too-that really helps a lot.

Ok, I tried my Magic Eraser and it did nothing. Go figure.

Thanks for all the replies!!!! And Pugdod007 thanks for asking the question!!!

I squeegee the doors after every use but they still get a build up. We have well water and is somewhat hard. I was getting frustrated at how to get the shower doors clean. I am going to try some of these products. Thanks again!!!

For scrubbing on the cleaner the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work well. Sometimes I just use that and water and it is enough.
