Any tips on how to clean one of these to get the brown coffee stains off the inside. I don't know how I lived this long without picking up this bit of knowledge.
If regular soap and water doesn't work, I would use a mixture of water and vinegar. If your carafe is bad, the machine itself probably needs cleaning too.
Mix up a carafe of the vinegar/water mixture and run it through the machine. (I run it twice). Then run a few pots of clean water through.
I'll probably get a few replies from those who will think I'm crazy, but here it goes. I own a cleaning company and do janitorial work at night for several offices in my area and taking care of the coffee pots is in the job description. If the glass pots are really stained bad, then I use the Softscrub with bleach (it's all in one) cleaner and it cleans like magic. Just put in a small amount and use a sponge. You barely have to touch it with a sponge and the stains disapear, then you rinse it out and follow it up with dishwashing soap like Dawn, Joy, etc. It turns out fantastic and looks brand new. I use that version of Softscrub to clean sinks and it does an awesome job as well, especially Stainless steel.
Not only has it been time tested, four out of five dissers can't be wrong! We need to make a commercial! I'm so glad a few of those decade old skills are still useful! I meant decadeS! I'm in denial about my age!
I don't use softscrub all the time on the coffee pots, just once in a blue moon. I do clean them everyday with Dawn dishwashing soap and it seems to keep them looking good. Soft scrub also works well if the pot is burned on the bottom.
I also use dishwasher detergent.Fill the carafe with water put in the detergent and I leave it overnight. In the morning I just dump out the water and rinse.
Another one for denture tablets. This is what we used in the restaurant I worked in. 3 tablets left to soak overnight and rinse well. May need to be done again if the pot is really gross tho.
